This is obviously sold as a magnifying glass -
but also works fine as a flashlight -
because of the illuminated part -

Check this out:

Only $1.97 from Wal*Mart.

Magnifier optical quality is pretty good - no obvious distortions or faults.

What's good is that the light bulb is the focussed type (uses 2x AA) and the bright hot "spot" is right on the object being looked at and fills the glass/viewed area evenly. This is much better/brighter light-wise than a lot of the illuminated magnifiers I've seen.

At under $2 - I'd call it a bargain -
there wasn't even a moment's hesitation as I ran to the checkout with one...... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

we have something similar...

i think it would be really nice if someone made one that used 2 5mm nichias, and a clear plastic qround the edge and made it "fiber-opticish"

Very handy! I have one and use it frequently.

I saw one of the weapons inspectors in Iraq looking down the bore of a artillery shell with one of these before the war.

Too bad he didn't have a proper flashlight for that duty, much unpleasentness may have been avoided.
