Hi I am new to the forum and I need some help putting together a single cell MC-E flashlight. I don't want to spend too much money on my first build. Here are some of my plans for the flashlight.

1. MC-E M- bin WD with a star heatsink, wired in series, from kaidomain. http://kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=6325
2. Kaidomain driver rated at 3v to 26v 1.3A wired in series. http://kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=9265
3. Using a single cell 18650 flashlight host

or

1. MC-E M- bin WD with a star heatsink, wired in parallel, from kaidomain. http://kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=5609
2. Kaidomain driver rated at 3v to 8v 1.8A wired in parallel. http://kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=9264
3. Using a single cell 18650 flashlight host

or

Should I just direct drive the MC-E

Thank in advice,
-Stanley

First build or first MC-E?
You say 18650 flashlight host but those LED stars or drivers won't fit in an 18650 host unless you're thinking of a Mag D with an 18650?

My first build. So those star won't fit in any 18650 host? I don't want to mod a Mag D. I want a host that I can carry in my pocket.

edit: Sorry I see what you are talking about now. Those drivers are too big. I didn't see the size of those drivers thanks.

Thanks lewong. Which one do you think is a better build. MC-E or P7. I looking for as much light as possible. I don't really care for throw. So for me I prefer flood > throw.

makes no difference, as both are basically the same,
P7 is larger + needs a larger opening at reflector + is parallel wired only.

--> whatever You find harmonizes better (led + reflector + driver) and fits into Your host

PS: why not purchase a MC-E/P7 18650 light from on of the shops, then opening it and improve possible "imperfections" in putting the parts together, heatsinking paste, ... ?
