Default Tip: Don\'t look directly at the light.....

I was excited to find two V3U LS 5 watters in my mail box this afternoon. After rigging my Mag to hold the LED I turned off all the lights and hooked up the power. !@$)*@#% HOLY CRAP that's bright! And that is with only 7.5 volts running through it -- not 9 like some of you fools . I am thoroughly impressed with the brightness of these LED's -- Can't wait to mount it in my Mag!

For us, it is inevitable that we will eventually look directly at the light. Nothing quite gives you a perspective the same way.

They're BRIGHT alright!!!
On some of my reviews, I have text like:

Ok, I'm gonna ask this yet again: What do most people do when they get a new flashlight?
That's right - they point it at their face and push the button. If you try that with a {flashlight name deleted}, you'll be in for a very rude surprise!!! And you might not see so well for awhile afterwards too.

I guess I'll have to steal some smileys from somewhere and add those to the affected pages.

You could always ask someone unsuspecting, tell them it's a small LED, and let them naturally stick it right to their eyes and hit the switch...

I just got a very nice V3U in the mail from Elektrolumens - can't wait to stuff it in my Arc with some new circuitry from CPF's other resident Wayne (dat2zip) :-P

It makes the expense all worthwhile just to see the slapstick comedy of people repeatedly tanning themselves by hitting the ON switch while the light is pointed right at them.........juvenile, but satisfying.

I've given up warning people to NOT stare into the shiny end of my Arc LS so they can tell if it comes on when twisting it's tail. They don't pay attention anyway and will eventually aim it at their eyeballs no matter what I say. )

Must be something in our prehistoric brains that makes us do that. I mean, even we, who should know better, still do it sometimes, right? Right? Hey! Pay attention and quit staring into that thing!

Heh, I reacted much the same way when I first encountered an LS a couple of weeks ago (1W Red/orange)...they're bright suckers compared to normal LED's aren't they!
