Milky swapped the XR-E R2 emitter with a neutral tint XP-G R4 5B emitter, and paired with a more suitable McR12-R reflector. The highly efficient driver stayed of course. No more greenish tint and dark Cree ring!

I will have to say though, the throw is cut way down as expected. Maybe by as much as 50%. My use of this light is very close range in most cases, so this beam pattern change is welcome. For those that like the Aeon as a mini pocket-thrower, they won't want to change anything other than maybe swap the greenish R2 for a Q4 5B XR-E.

    Fresh from the Milky labs.

    (1) Milky ML1 Extreme in Rare Black Color.

    (1) Milky ML1 Extreme with Warm High CRI led.

The Black ML1 Extreme was upgraded to a SSCP4 U2SWOH with a Smoothie Reflector with UCL lens.

Also upgraded MM+ board with 30 ohm lower tail switch.

The other L1 was upgraded to a SSCP4 T1-4000k-93CRI led.

Also a Smoothie Reflector with UCL lens.

This L1 also has the upgraded MM+ board and the 30 ohm lower tail switch.

This is my first high CRI light.

The tint is a nice warm and the colors really pop.

As I really like a bunch of levels and programability, it's nice to have a light that it simple and reliable to use.

Press a little, get nice low, press harder get bright high.

Out of all my lights the Milky L1 is my bench mark on what a beam should look like.

    Thanks, Scott!

Wow! CGPS, those L1s look fantastic. How is the throw on the ML1 Extreme? I just got an L1 today and was thinking of Milky and having him bump up the high and get me a lower low.

With McR20 reflectors and 240ish OTF lumens you can expect 13k lux, but that will vary depending on the emitters you decide to have Scott install.

I am still shocked these tiny smooth reflectors smoke the daylight out of the bigger D26 drop-in types.

    ninemm,

The Milky L1 is a great all around light.

There are lights that out throw it, are brighter, have lower lows and have longer runtimes.

No light has the perfect balance between all these features.

Some come very close, like the McGizmo Aluminum PD-S.

The Aluminum McGizmo PD-S may be better because of smaller size , tail standing and rear trit.

They are just so hard to find.

    This is just my opinion.

    Enjoy!

You know what's funny Steve? When you suggested that you might want to trade me that L1 I thought to myself that I could use another milky creation and that I'd maybe end up sending it to him. So I came back to this thread to see the latest L1 mods (Has he put an sst50 in an L1 yet?) And here you are exploring milky labs too! Haha. Well either way this baby will probably end up in Scotts mailbox sooner or later, lol.

Regarding HA-BK L1, they are really nice... and uncommon. I've had hundreds of L1 hosts come through the Milky Labs, and in all that time have ever come across THREE black ones, of which only one was mine, with the other two being customer builds... including the one posted above! Darned hard to track one down.

Ninemm, your build is progressing nicely... not sure if I've got a pending email or PM from you, will check. Nbp, do you have a pending message waiting? Sometimes people will email but not give their CPF username, which makes it hard to match the email with folks who post over here.

Latest build to leave the Labs... or at least, the label itself, as IMHO it's pretty interesting...

Translated pretty nicely to printed form...

    It goes with this light...

Idea came from one of the customer's favorite movies.

More photos of this build to come in a writeup in the near future. There are also a number of other builds I haven't taken the time to post over here yet, but they're coming too.

Scott, I've sent you an email and a PM about a week ago, although I think I forgot to put my username in the email. It was about getting a U2 turned into a U2me. I'm sure you're really busy though, so there's no rush.

I've been using the L1 exclusively for the last few days and I think it is growing on me. Well, the size and UI at least. The output and beam are only so so. Those points are easily remedied.

Hey Scott! Nope I haven't been bugging you with Pms etc lately. Been trying to get some money saved up for a 007. Look forward to checking out the Gossling build. Going to be the brightest light I own by far!!

The ML1 4flats was one of my all time favorite lights. Like a MORON I sold it. One of these days I will get another to go with my PD-S

Nope don't worry Scott. You didn't miss me. Still enjoying the ML4. I wouldn't mind having you do another light for me though I'll have to look for a good host and get back in touch with you.

Scott's e-mail is in the very first post of this thread. (Be sure to scroll down quite a bit.)

Hope this helps. But in all honesty, yeah; Scott has been super busy lately.

    Build: Shadow Slayer (X2750.4)

A few weeks back I'd shipped a nice, 4x SST-50 build in a SureFire M4 host, running on 2x18650 cells via 'Califon-D' revision of the Acorn firmware, to ZX7DAVE. Eventually I'd like to do a complete writeup about that build, but for now wanted to share some eye candy. It's a solid-performing light.

He will, but not just yet.

As for me, there's always this little project, which I prototyped months ago...

Or this, which I'm pretty sure I posted some time ago...

And a few more on the way, like the one bearing this label, dubbed 'Porco'...
