How to turn your Sheaffer ballpoint into a "Space Pen":
Take the ratchet top for Parker pens that comes with the Fisher Space Pen Refill. Locate the bottom of the diagonal indentations on the ratchet. Cut across the ratchet top at that location with a pair of pliers with a wire cutter or a multi-tool. I used a multi-tool. Then put the ratchet on top of the Fisher refill and you're good to go. For the moment, I am using this with the aluminum version of the Sheaffer Javelin. Seems to work on any Sheaffer from what I can tell. Of course, when the refill runs out, save the Sheaffer top unless you wish to make another one.
I have several Sheaffer ballpoints and it has been difficult to locate the ballpoint refills and I prefer Fisher's pressurized refills anyway.
Warning, I haven't checked this out in all Sheaffer ballpoints that use the current K or B refills, so YMMV.
