I saw it, loved it and had to buy it. And ask for forgiveness later

Nice ones there in your pic! I suppose pretty custom and rare?

To be back on-topic ... I installed a Cree LE (Haiku) in the XR-U head. and boy, was it bright ... but I missed the High CRI beam so much I changed back.

Love the modularity - if you have a Haiku - the XR-E from the Haiku in the XR-U head is REALLY interesting.

if I purchase this together with the UV Haiku, would both LE be interchangeable?

e.g. UV LE in XR-U head and Sundrop Engine in Haiku head?

I'm going to try and save Don some trouble since I asked this very question of him in another thread (darned if I can find it though). The Sundrop's engine won't work well in the Haiku because it's a 6 die so each die is too far off center and won't focus. BUT, the light engine from the UV Haiku should work in the Sundrop XR-U (not the original Sundrop). The Haiku's LE should work in the XR-U too.

The original Haiku LE works very well in the XR-U. It makes one hell of a bright moon-spot

Well, since you have the capacity to get optics made-to-order, maybe you could come up with an Aleph-compatible right-angle head that uses a combination prism/TIR optic to send the beam at a 90-degree angle. You know, since you don't have anything better to do.

Bigtime, mine is the PERFECT house light it really makes walking around at night a pleasure, took it out in the garden the other night, found a rather large orb-weaver spider out back, brought out all the colours so wonderfully...

The business end of the SD is really special. Beefy and strange.

Can someone that owns this light please give me their impressions of the three different levels? Specifically low & medium as they pertain to indoor use and NAV (night adapted vision)?

    Thanks

Edit: I found the needed info in the XR-U owners thread, DUH .
