well I wanted to make a TACTICAL (LOL) MC-E dropin...
So i got a 3 mode 2500mA board and a mounted Cree MC-E from Shiningbeam (had to wait for new delivery of the boards)
then I removed the Atmel Tiny13 chip and bridged the proper pads, and replaced the wires to 1mm thick ones
older pics with board layout
and the final drop-in...
it is a bit temperamental without a center spring...
without one it needs a spacer for it to run in a Solarforce body with a Z41 tailcap...with a DIY forward clickie it was better...and it really shined in an Aurora V6 host....
This MC-E is a conatct resistance hog!
out of memory: MC-E drop-in in...
L2 no tailcap 1250 lux
L2 + DIY forward - 1190 lux
L2 + Z41 - 1010 lux
L2 + Z41 + spacer - 1200 lux
V6 no tailcap - 1340 lux !!!!!!
V6 + DIY forward - 1290 lux
for comparison Dx Q5s give at 480+ lux when run at 1A. that is abut 200 lumens right?
but there are still more things wrong....Estimated lumens in my lightbox were about 450, and battery draw was 1.83A...seems I have some lumens stray and running away...could be the LED wires but I dare not solder new ones...that SMD part near the + wire is too close to stay on when soldering....
