Don't turn the HEAD! (at least not w/out something under the clip)

*hint, install battery from switch side

TK40 Round-Up Thread - very image intensive!
When mine gets here, the first thing I'm gonna do is give the head a nice big turn. Once that first scratch is there I won't have to worry about trying not to damage it anymore!

i just bend the clip so its off the head by a hair
Seeing as this is already covered in the appropriate thread, what exactly is the point of cross posting here?
my caveat not clear enough?

Wished I saw this post before receiving package. The tailcap was too tight so the head turned.

Titanium scratch that easily? Must be low grade.
ahh excellent, a perfect example of PeaceOfMinds suggestions![]()

I think a less zoomed in pic would be less mortifying![]()

Yes, it's gouged deep.![]()
That scratch looks almost like its suppose to be there. I guess if you want to use a clip you might as well go ahead and scratch it and get it over with.
It does kind of surprise me that it was designed that way.
My flashlight collection HERE
Thanks for the warning.
No way most people would have been able to pick a piece of advice like this out of the monster thread that is for the Quark Ti-s. I think it is quite a good thread topic.
Now if only my Quark Ti 2xAA would ship...![]()
Neutral white, it's the new black.
Gives it character - it actually looks like it belongs their, factory etched![]()
Because someone would have to be on here for hours a day and post somewhere around, hmm, I'd say 11.32 posts per day to absorb all the info in every thread. He thought is was improtant info for others who spent big bucks on a limited edition flashlight. I'm sure none of them would be very happy if it happened to them, and it will if you didn't know about it.
Edit: Read the post below this one. FlasherByNight has done a service to a few CPFers. This is a worthy thread.

In 1959 Cuba wanted "CHANGE" too.
Many thanks for the heads up, because I know this would have happened to me! Looks like a design oversight, should be easily cured with a small bit of tubing on the clip end.
lol, I thought David had warned us a bit this already.
For me, I don't use clips anyway, first thing i'm going do when i get mine is a taking off all the stupid clips and install the lanyards! =D

You forgot to mention that this concerns only the AA and the 123 if it has a clip.
The AA-2 and the 123-2 are not concerned.
I'll bend the clip as soon as I get the light, before turning anything.
I wonder too how a steel clip can gouge the titanium? I know that polished titanium gets scratched very easily, but a ti-scratch is another thing than what I see here!!!
My way : From Maglite and drop-ins over Fenix & Co to the real things - Customs and Titaniums!
Since there was no notification from 4Sevens regarding this issue, somebody's gotta post it a big warning.
No message by email.
No warning slip in the box.
No warning thread in 4Sevens forum.
I guess I don't mind being the "poster child"![]()
hmm... true, i think they should sent an email to everyone who's ordered the relevant model/s as well.

I have my clip reversed on my Quark AA tactical and will do so when I get my Ti Quark. I did not like the way the clip scratched the head when changing from low to high. I prefer the clip reversed anyway so I can clip it to the bill of my ballcap.
I like charater marks on a light but having a scratch like the one posted would bother me. I like to look at scratches and appreciate that I got them when I dropped it on a trip or while working on something. Seeing a scratch cause by just changing a battery or switching modes is different and not the kind of mark I would want on a Ti light. Just my opinion I guess.
I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
I just hope that I actually remember this when I get to open mine up for the first time!

I agree, a thread like this is a public service to all those who have yet to receive their Ti beauties. I guess it's a bit of a reward for having to wait so long.
I sure wish I it had been around before I unboxed my TiQ...in the car, before I even made it home. The pristine finish didn't last 30 seconds after the package was opened.
For me personally, the scratch will be the first of many, but like Oddjob said, it's much more satisfying when a mark has ben earned, and has a story to go along with it.![]()
Finning does help dissipate heat. This is why the fins are removed before cooking fish. Otherwise it will throw off the heat and not reach the proper cooking temperature. --Duglite
