Hi Dan. Will the brass ring work for the McC2S switches? I think it needs a 3/8" opening.

Sorry Dan - I now remember you did write that in your first post somewhere. I guess I'll wait a bit then for now. I already have a very nice bored C2 from you, but not looking for another host at the moment...

    Thanks for your help,

    Chris

Theoretically yes, but we have not tested it. If you order one to try, please ask for a full length 'boot nub'. This will give it the best chance of working.

Not sure. If someone can point us to the specifications, we'll take a look.

Totally understand. Let me just get a handle on kit logistics before enlarging the circle to dedicated service. We'll get you taken care of.

Got my McClicky from Electronguru earlier in the week, and will share my thoughts and some pics. Ive been playing with the switch for the past three days. My initial impression is that it is a very sensitive switch on the momentary feature. It is not a problem for me as I have a good holster for my 6p, but the lock out feature is there if needed. It works very smoothly, and the click action is positive. For people that keep the light in hand & ready to go most of the time, the sensitivity is a good thing. Only minimal movement is required for momentary, and then slightly more with a fairly short travel to lock on. Working the switch with my thumb was very easy. For pocket carry, I would reccomend locking the switch out while being carried, simply loosen about a 1/3 turn. This would eliminate any chance of accidental activation. For the record, I have not had any problems with accidental activation thus far. Spring tension is on the light side, but not too much IMO. Modoo's new tail shroud would also protect the switch if you dont want to lock out while being carried. I did not notice any internal resistance issues with this switch like some of the others Ive had, including a z59. I had a couple of switches in the past that would either brighten or dim slightly while clicking and would sometimes flicker. It is a keeper, and well worth the price charged for it. As far as installation, I ended up boiling my Z41 inside a ziplock bag. It took around 30 minutes of boiling to get the glue loose. I was then able to get the plastic ring out with needle nose pliers. The other metal parts were easily removed with pliers. I cleaned the switch, installed the new rubber boot & mcclicky with my Leatherman, and then relubed with nyogel. It works flawlessly. This is a high quality switch that many will appreciate.

Thank you for the excellent feedback and photos!

I tested the boiling method with sandwich grade bags and it melts enough for water to penetrate.

When updating Post 1, I'll specify cooking/freezer grade.

    Important announcement:

Leef bodies have a shorter tailcap thread section than SF bodies. This difference means that the tailcap 'hits bottom' (pressing against aluminum) before the end of the body reaches the brass ring of our kit. We are studying the problem and may offer a solution (other than making our own custom bodies), but for the time being, please consider the Brass + McClicky kit to be incompatible with Leef bodies.

If you've already purchased a kit for use with a Leef body, you may return it for a full refund.
If you decide to hold onto it, any solution, if found, would be offered at no cost, to existing customers.

This issue in no way affects compatibility with SF hosts/bodies.

Got mine today, thanks. The matte HA black finish is very nice and so is the tactile feedback of the click mechanism in this switch.

Got my switches today, very nice item, and a snap to install.

As mentioned, it doesn't work with Leef bodies. It also doesn't work with G2Z. It does work with old round-body SF including 9P, 6P and 3P.

Any progress on the fix for Leef tubes?

I rigged this quick & dirty temporary fix, which does work, although I'm not real comfortable with a piece of conductor sitting loosely in the tailcap:

Just a semi-loop of twisted copper wire. I tension it enough to make it stay at the perimeter, and it contacts the top of the Leef tube...Let there be light!

Update: I took the NetKidz clicky out of my G2Z cap and installed yours. It does work, so it's the modified Z41 which doesn't work on the G2Z.
