Thread: Show off your Spotlight (12Vspotlight) auto light

Default Show off your Spotlight (12Vspotlight) auto light

    Hey guys!

I haven't seen a thread on this yet, so I thought I'd start one. I carry 2 of these on me at all times and have modified them with a couple of XP-E's. Pretty bright little light for the size, even untouched.

I'll throw up some pics here soon.

That'll work, but I was talking more of these little guys.

Although, I'm pretty sure that spotlight is quite a bit brighter.

Haha, Why not? Its a fairly simple mod. Unsolder one, solder the other (trickiest part if its not on a MCPCB). I need to do an XP-G here soon, but I haven't ordered any yet. Waitin on P4's and P7's for them at the moment.

I knew there had to be others with these useful little lights on here.

Heck yeah...the Spotlight (TM not generic) is one badass light. It has replaced my Krill and Underwater Kinetics (for shallow in-water use) and my mini-Mag-Lite on-land. My 4D-cell maglite stays near my bed for cracking burglar skulls (NYPD/LAPD style) but otherwise has embarrassingly had its butt kicked by the "small but strong" Spotlight. I barely use my tactical light because those lithium batteries get so damn expensive as compared to the small increase in beam thrown. I actually had my cousin drive a full FIRE ENGINE over that little sucker and it suffered nothing but some road rash. Give me a bit and I can dig up THOSE pics...

The little Spotlight is a great light. I do a lot of caving and I always carry three sources of light for safety. Carbide lamp is my primary and the little Spotlight is my secondary light. I always have another Spotlight as a backup. The light weight and brightness are unsurpassed. There are times when I rely on the spotlight exclusively, especially when caving in wet areas. Spotlights are very durable and have withstood some harsh conditions underground. The new spotlight headband is a great gadget. I just got one for my caving hard helmet and cannot wait to try it. Based on the Spotlight's website a new brighter version of the spotlight will be coming out soon too.

    Hello guys...

Received two of these neat spotlights today.

The pink caddy colored one is for my girlfriend...

The spotlight come with everything you need; car-charger and a very strong
neck-lanyard wit clip! The spotlight is very handy and grips well.
The anodize is very clean and has a good quality. For this price and its
size much more than i have expected...

The spotlight has an output of 25lumens, enough to use in most situations.

    I am happy with it!

    Many thanks to spotlight!

I support my local (N.A.) economy and buy local as much as possible in an attempt to keep jobs here. Additionally most things from China are of inferior quality. (not implying this particular light isn't good, as I have no experience with it)

Technically it's made by Americans living in China, if that counts for anything. Actually there's one Brit (Mark) involved too, but it's hard to take him seriously when he uses the word "torches" instead of flashlights. Torches are what the angry mobs used when they went to Dr. Frankenstein's pad.

On a more serious note we are actually looking into some facilities in the US to move some productions into. Will keep everyone posted.

Thanks for posting your spotlight photos guys and I look forward to seeing more.

    And here we go again.

FYI where something is made has ZERO impact on its quality, its all about what price/cost ratio the manufacturer is going for.

can these be left plugged in 24/7? Is this bad for the light's battery?

Conspiracy theories abound, but it may have merit in this case.

I am still laughing about the fact that I thought this was about real spotlights in your car .
    Will work for lights.

Good question. We've designed the spotlight so that you can just leave it in your car socket so you'll always know where it is and it is always ready to be used. The forwarding current when the spotlight is plugged in the car’s socket, is less than 0.01Amp, which means, for a car SLA battery, it’ll drain it out after 4,800~10,000 hours, that’s almost 200 days to more than 1 year.

Lol, Awesome! I wish I had that kind of clout and money . Hopefully someday soon though.

However, on my email signatures, my twitter account, my personal Facebook wall, on our Facebook fan page, and the blog on our site, I DO encourage our fans to join CPF in hopes of (not necessarily in this order) ....

    A) bringing CPF to the attention of other flashlight fans
    B) getting the spotlight brand name out there more among the true hardcore flashlight-aholics like yourselves.

Anyhoo, I'm now going to be like that guy that wears the band's shirt to the concert, and post my personal favorite spotlights....

I hope that cool with everyone

China's reportedly inferior quality is the result of Americans trying to eek the most money out of products that they order from there. As with anything made anywhere, you get what you pay for. You want top quality that will give SureFire a run for your money? Specify it and expect to pay more for it and you will get it. I've heard of manufacturing engineers ordering samples from China, inspecting them under an electron microscope, and reporting that the same results could not be done for *any* price here in the US!

Keeping this thread on topic, I love the two that I have but I can't seem to hang onto them because I share them with friends and relatives who don't want to give them back! My buddy borrowed one, turned it on and hung it around his neck using a 12V Spotlight lanyard on Halloween night for about three hours. It was about as bright when he turned it off as it was when he turned it on. He liked it so much that I still can't get it back from him. The worst part is that it's not like I have the charger at home and I'm waiting for him to run the batteries down so that he can give it back for me to charge. He'll just plug it into his car's cigarette lighter plug and charge it back up again

Yeah, some of those posts are pretty suspect. Sadly I've never seen any of these little things here. I was hoping for your sort of spotlight as well. That's a real spotlight.

I've had the same problem. I had three Spotlights at one point, and I seem to have "lost" them all.

I actually prefer the flat/floody beam of the Coast/LED Lenser AutoLED, but only because I always have another light (or three) on me to fill my general purpose lighting needs. I think the overall design of the Spotlight is much better than the Coast, especially the action of the switch and the knurling on the body. The price of the Spotlight is obviously a lot better, too.

That headlamp band would be a useful replacement for my Tikka while camping and night free-diving. Are those a website only item?
