Default Stonewash 007 and Chimera Mini

I think these 2 lights would have Beautiful Babies
I used the same stonewashing technique as the Chimera Mini...
All the edges were knocked down a bit and the whole light was
lightly polished so the stonewashing doesn't have that "Chalkboard" feel.

If anyone is interested in this for thier 007, Hit me with a PM please

How do you stonewash a working flashlight, anyway? Stick it in a rock tumbler with some pebbles or something? How do you keep from damaging the lense?

I wish it was that simple
I completely dissasemble the light and pull all the
parts out from inside.. Then i tumble it for a whole day
Once i get the finish i want, I clean out the light and re-assemble..

I can't wait to get this back... The stonewash has the added benefit in my eyes of work hardening the surface to a degree so dings and scratches are a bit less likely to show. I have another 007 from the latest batch and could spend hours admiring the finish and following the tool paths from the machining, but this one I will not be hesitant to throw in my pocket with keys and change...

It's good to know the 007 is that easy to take apart. The Tri-V promises to be much more difficult in that regard.

Awsome work Sabrewolf I'm not sure what else to say, except the finish looks like some of my Atwoods. Let me beat the hell out of my 007 first and then I'll be contacting you.... simply beautiful
    My backpack's... got jets

So from your explanation, all one needs to do is throw a handful of pebbles in their pocket along with the spy and after umm, 6 months get similar results..

Nice work and kutos for being able to dismantle this little beast.

    Thanks

I wasn't initially, but your pics are wearing down my resistance.

If you could do my Spy and re-do my Chimera in that approximate stonewash (if you recall, there was considerable difficulty getting a satisfactory tumbled finish when you originally completed my Chimera, hence my choice to go with satin & polish) I would likely jump.

The only way i can do the chimera is by removing the battery
and lens, Then seal up the light with silicone. The reason why is
the battery and lens wont survive a tumble like that
I can do the 007, But do to the shape of it and the way it tumbles,
It would not have the same patterns at the chimera. I can try to get
it as close as possible.. But not perfect.
