I ordered an HID kit (2 pair) to upgrade my Professionals Choice 17.5 light but would like to take the other HID light and make the smallest flashlight possible with the understanding that "small" would still need to be pretty big to house the 12v battery and the reflector space large enough to house the bulb.

Question is if I am going for throw/spot how small can I go on the reflector?

Whats the smallest 12v battery I can use?

Thanks

As the lightsource has a given size i dont think you could get much below 4" in diameter before throw really suffers. Think car highbeam.
As for bats anything above 10.5V under a 4A load is acceptable, capacity/size/runtime is up to you!
The ballast will terminate at around 9.5V and needs 8A start current (35W HID) so no protection cirquits needed/wanted.
