I am making my own bike light. I have a 12v battery with 7amphr output. I wanted to run 5 watt halogen lights, but they dont make a self-enclosed 5 watt 12v, only a 20-50. So I went looking around and to make a long story short found these 6v 5watt halogen bulbs at a place going out of business. My riend and I bought all 50 of them for 12 dollars. He still has to buy a battery, so they might be good if he chooses a 6 volt. I on the otherhand have a 12 volt. What should I know about running these lights with 12 volts. They do work, but for how long?

Any advise woul;d be appreciated.

use 2 in series.
a 6v bulb on 12v would normally be a flashbulb.
if it doesnt flash on power up i would expect its life to be a few minutes. your battery may be weak if it didnt pop instantly.

I was hoping to use 3 @5 watts, as this would give me the perephial I was wanting using @ 2, and one in the center to get a distance light. This works out to about four hours for my battery. I reaaly had my hopes set on 15 watts, the middle ground between 1 power eater, and two not so brights.
what can I do for that?
thanks for your reply's
