Hello!

I bought this light some day's ago from Bernie (Kiessling)...

Salesthread

I am only selling this, because its to small for my hands...:tired:

This is a true piece of CPF-History. I dont know if you ever get such
a LarryLight again for sale. This light is in perfect condition, no marks,
dings or anything...:grin2:

The LarryLight runs on a Cr2 cell and has two stages of brightness with
a optic behind a sapphire lens. As Bernie said...

One of the lights with the most attention to detail, and very elusive as only a few had been made by Larry. This is the base for some other custom lights on CPF. Pure CPF history.
The lens looks somy "oily" but this is normal and caused by the optical
interface between the custom cut down optic and the lens. This is
normal and does not affect the beam. Just wanted to mention that..;)

Get now a true piece of CPF...once people paid more that 600$ for that...

Would like to get the price i paid for...

275$ +shipping and fees

Sooo i just looks into the battery tube and it seems to be made of brass...

Perhaps someone else my help me out. The heatsink where the driver fits
ist also brass. The tube is also brass colored.

Re: ^°^°^°^°^° FS: UBER UBER RARE LarryLight Cr2 ^°^°^°^°^°

Dad i made some new pics of the light when i received it...;)

The LarryLight is in HA nat, thats right. But at this moment i cant make
sure that it is really brass. I think we have to wait until Bernie is back.

The weight is quite heavy, but the diferences to alum are not so noticeable
with these litlle lights...:poke: :tinfoil:

Here is another pic of the tail...

BTW, there are no scratches, this is caused by the light.

Thanks for confirming. When Bernie get back he can confirm. If it's just gold-colored aluminum hard anodized I will pass. If you and he confirm that the body and head are brass, like the heat sink, then I will take it. Otherwise, I think white light will take it.

Thank you for checking. I don't think Larry made any in brass, but I could be wrong. If you hold just the battery tube itself (without the head) and it feels heavy, then it's probably brass, as David pointed out. Thanks for the extra pic!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you can hard anodize brass.

Ditto.

IIRC, Larry used a particular departure from the regular HA anodizing (added cheap Heineken beer to the vat... :nana: ), which gives those lights that special finish.

Troy, you're right about being wrong on this one. Larry had made a series of five CR2 lights in various metals -- aluminum, stainless, bronze, brass and tungsten, if I remember correctly. One or two of them were raffled, and one was auctioned with part of the proceeds donated to CPF. I won that auction and chose (among the two or three left to choose from) the brass CR2. Larry told me that it was the only brass CR2 he had made and there would not be any more. I believe that subsequently someone talked him into making just one more, but this was well after Bernie had won his second one in a raffle. My guess is that the present one is in bronze, of which Larry made several, and which can weather into a patina that may resemble HA-natural.

I carried my bronze Larry CR2 daily for a couple of years until one day I lost it. I hated myself for it because at the time it was still a state-of-the-art light, and even today would be a joy to look at, feel, and use, with its precision machining and beautifully smooth beam, and exquisite attention to detail. The oil between the optic and the lens serves the purpose of eliminating two refractive interfaces -- optic to air and air to lens -- to gain an extra few photons out the front.

This one is aluminum and HA-NAT, just the heat sink seems to be brass.
