We are producing the AA battery El Capitan in a stainless Steel knurled Key Ring body.
These are machined from solid 300 series non-magnetic bar stock.

The Stainless Steel push button tail switch will also work with this body. Power level 6, 7
and 8 will use the Cree XP-G R5 led. We also have the El Cap in Brass and the Aluminum
ones are off to anodizing tomorrow.

Curt,
Could you snap a quick pick of one of these and post? It doesn't need to be catalog quality :). Also, when will these be ready?

The medium optics is the only one available at this time in this size format. If something becomes available we will include them.

The lights are for sale now. Pics to follow soon.

The Stainless El Caps will be shipped to RMSK starting this Monday the 7th of December.
Brass El Caps will also be included with anodized aluminum the following week.

We are throwing in a surprise additional option with the Stainless and Brass El Caps for
those that want something a little different. A body designed for the 14250 Lithium-Ion
rechargeable battery. This option makes the overall length of the light one inch shorter than
with the standard AA battery. Power output will be the same as with the longer 14500 battery.
Total length with the optional momentary switch and the 14250 body is 2-3/4 inches.

This combination should be one of the best little pocket lights available. The
number 8 power level with the Cree XP-G R5 at 130 plus Lumens should run for
about one hour with the 14250 battery. Longer with lower power levels.

You cannot order the 14250 body instead of the standard body when getting the El Cap,
it is an additional option only. And yes it is knurled and in the key ring adapter style so
it can use the push button momentary switch.

A very strange dark place
Curt,

Good to hear the El Capitan AA lights are rolling out. I have a few questions about them though. If I get the #6 light with XP-G, will the runtime be around 2 hours? Is the drive level around 300mA to the XP-G R5 LED? Once the narrow and wide optics become available, is it simple to change them out?

One last question, when the multiple output switches become available, would the El Capitan be able to switch to lower levels or is that a model to be released with the switch?

My goal is a single AA light with 2 hours of run time, switchable to lower levels, over 120 lumens at the LED and user-replaceable optics in a small single AA light.

If it is output adjustable/capable and I can swap the optics...make mine aluminum. Thanks for any info, Curt and have a happy holiday season.

I would like to know this also. I'd really like to buy a #6 El Capitan, but I wonder about the runtime...

The list below showed the approximate run times with a Rebel 0080 and the AAA battery in the Eiger.

The output with the XP-G in fc in the El Cap is basically 2.5 to 3 times that of the the Eiger. The battery
capacity of the AA battery under the same current draw is about 3.5 times that of the AAA. I have
not had the time to do a run time study, but that should give you a good approximation.
