SHOT Show 2010 Logistics, CPF at SHOT

I remember in previous years getting a lot more information, photos, etc during the show posted here on the forums and on external sites as well. This year there is scant little news out - hopefully we'll see more soon.

The only manufacturer that showed ANYTHING is EagleTac. 4Sevens with their cat and mouse SST-90 games, a few SF lights and nothing else. No word from NiteCore, Fenix etc. etc. etc.

The good news is, it is getting lighter and brighter every day so as the sun stays up longer... my needs diminish.

Now I'm looking for a modder to put a XP-G S2 bin (when available) in my Nitecore D10. The EagleTac single AA light looks great with 110 OTF lumens with it's R5, the Peak LEO lights look great along with the El Capitan.

Geez, it is like this stuff is a major secret or something. Either that, or there really is nothing new to report. Does this mean for the flashaholic that this years SHOT show was a waste of time?

Basically, "you'll get what you get and you won't throw a fit.". If you want more you should've just made the investment to get your a&$'s there like we did. There are enough diversions in Vegas to keep us from documenting our every step. It was a fantastic time had by all and when I actually get home and get situated perhaps I'll provide a little more detail.

Patience, grasshoppers. There is nobody reading this who can't wait a week to hear the news. If you couldn't, you'd be there. People bitch and moan every year, and then every year the pics and stories show up over the following week. Give people time to go home, sleep and then they'll resize pictures for you.

I made some for those who I thought I was going to see again or meet for the first time at the 2010 SHOT Show. These were just a few of the ones I had here at home. Several more leather freebie goodies were left at work. I knew I couldn’t make one for everybody but I did my best for the time I had. I hope you can guess whose would have belonged to whom. Since I won’t see y’all for quite awhile and it’s been cold here for a few days AND I hear strips of leather makes good kindling wood to start a fire… It looks like I’ll be a bit warmer this time of year. Except for ‘Greta’ she will get hers when it's finished.

Just got back from the SHOT show yesterday afternoon and what an experience. It's my first time to attend the SHOT show and a CPF gathering and was not sure what to expect. It was a little overwhelming to say the least. It was a bit of an overload to tell you the truth. I got to see and touch things that would never be available to me in California. I did spend quite a bit of time in the Sig, HK and best of all the FN booth. If i didn't enjoy California so much i would move just to own some of this hardware. And thank you to TEKNA/TekLite for my first giveaway for the day .
OK, so much for the SHOT show and on to the CPF gatherings.

First and foremost in my mind is what a great group of people. The sense of community and comaraderie what just awesome. I have sensed some of that here in the forums but to experience it first hand and to put faces to the names just made it more apparent. It was and will be one of my most memorable experiences. I wished i would have spent more time with a lot of you.

It was a pleasure meeting and talking to David and his crew. Thank for hosting a great gathering and for the generosity. Everyone who attended got to bring home a 4sevens flashiight and they intoduced the Maelstrom for everyone to play with. WOW, that is one hell of a bright SOB. I heard someone say it's going to give HIDs a run for it's money. Again, many thanks to David and crew. I was a bit nervous at first as it was my first time meeting everyone but it didn't take long to make me at ease. Everyone there was just so nice and friendly. It was fun listening to everyone tell how they got their screen names and to witness Rothrandir's buffet prowess. Not sure if he's human, there is just no way all that food can fit in that little body. Good times.

Dude, that was one hell of a party. That suite was bigger than my house and garage put together. Crap, that bathroom was probably bigger that my house . What a great time for everyone. I saw some of the guys trying to light up the Vegas strip with what looks like HIDs and other monster lights. Someone also tossed a Photon out the window into the pool below and it was still running after the end of the party MattK and the vendors generosity was just intense. Everyone there went home with quite a few lights. Each one of us received an Icon Modus1, Inova X2, a Coast Mini-Tac keychain light, a NiteIze SpotLit and of course a BatteryJunction keychain light just for being there. There were also great door prizes from Surefire, RaLights, Coast, LRI (the Photon folks), Novatac, TerraLux, Inforce, Fenix, Peak, Rothrandir, Springboard, Maxpedition and more. The atmosphere was great and I enjoyed meeting everyone. I talked to a few of the manufacturer reps and they all said that they enjoy supporting the CPF community and will continue to do so. . Let's show them our gratitude by continuing to buy and support their products. I have to say that even without all the great stuff, this would have been an awesome good time. Thank you, thank you, thank you to MattK and all the manufacturers for their extreme generosity.

I also want to thank SteveatSpringboard for the invitation pass that got me to the SHOT show. MrMom for organizing a lot of behing the scenes logistics. Polklifer for volunteering to help with MattK's party and to everyone for such a wonderful time.
And last but certainly not least, Greta for doing what she does keeping together one of the best communities out there. It might be my fault for being a flashaholic but you and CPF make me feel that i belong. Thank you!

I hope to attend SHOT next year and looking forward to meeting more of the CPF community.

And I forgot to mention, above, how much I enjoyed hanging with Rothrandir (Jim) and RPM (Richard). We were among the CPFers staying at the Flamingo and we hung out in their casino after the CPF parties each night. Rich and I were amazed at the quantity of food young Jim could wolf down. Jim and I were amazed at how good Rich was at poker. Rich and Jim were amazed at what a dork dad was. Great times had by all.

Thanks to Google and Youtube, you can find a ton of info on the 2010 SHOT show!

Seems all those smart phones out there allow for almost instant pics/video of the show so Google on Flashaholics! Granted, most of the posts, pics and video have to do with weapons so you'll have to pick and choose.

As far as paying to go to the shot show? That is OK, no really! I have plenty of weapons, flashlights and tactical gear to use and I know works. After all, you can only get so efficient killing people with weapons, if I feel the need to increase the carnage then high explosives always work...always.

I'm sorry if I offended any of you, after all... the show is very large and it does take a lot of effort to take it all in. I guess now that the show is over, the manufacturers will post their latest and greatest on their websites in the next few days.

For everyone looking for the latest and greatest in illumination devices, there were plenty at the show. I'll try to summarize a few.

4sevens

You all know about the Mealstrom. 3 different models were shown and all 3 are barn burners. The pre production samples were only single mode but David did say they will have multiple modes. Wicked bright to say the least.

Surefire

They had plenty of new stuff on display.

UB3T Invictus, nothing like the UB3 pics from last year's catalog. The T might mean turbohead as it has gotten quite a bit larger than the UB3 head. 400 lumens, TIR and 11 settings.

M3LT/M3LT-A, LED based M3T with a 4 die LED, 400/70 lumens. S model has strobe.

AZ2/AZ2-S, 150 lumens high and 35 low flood from 4 LEDs. S model has strobe.

E2L-AA, the E2L in a 2AA platform. 80/3 lumens, TIR.

LX1, 110/10 lumens. Single cell LX2.

Stratum S2, 6P size, black HA, 3 modes. 150/50/5 lumens.

Also the P60L will be replaced by the KX4 head, 120 lumens.

RaLights

Henry did confirm that there will be a new Twisty on the way with a different interface. It will also include some if not all of the Clicky modes. He also mentioned a new Clicky is in the works. And for all you pocket clip fans out there, RaLights will have a new bezel down clip. (Henry, i hope this is OK to post)

LRI/Photon

Leo mentioned the Proton Pro will now be available with an IR LED instead of the red one. Very cool light and it was nice talking to the LRI crew.

Kid - the scary part is that what you see isn't everything - we couldn't fit the rest on the table so like paintballdad noted above we gave out 5 lights to every CPF participant who walked in the door. I think everyone left with at least 7-8 lights. Also not shown there is the prototypes that Fenix donated and the bags and other cool stuff the Maxpedition gang brought.

The factories really stepped up and gave us some great products to give away.
My thanks to all of them for their support and generosity.

Special thanks to all of the volunteers (Rothrandir, arewethereyetdad, paintballdad and so many more) who helped set up, keep things running and who stayed to help clean up!

Yep, i was very lucky to bring home a total of 8 lights (including a Fenix prototype) and a very cool Maxpedition duffel bag from MattK's party. The generosity was simply astounding.

Any news from NovaTac? I had spoken with them a few times during 2009 and was told that new lights were coming. I recall pictures from the 2009 Shot Show with what appeared to be a higher output model from them. Just curious as their web site has not been updated in eons.
