Hi Could someone please tell me if I would get optimum performance out of my Eneloop batteries by charging them in a Duracell CEF14 Charger?

Is this charger suitable?

Many thanks.

Hello Binky1206,

Welcome to CPF.

That charger will charge Eneloop cells, but you may not get optimum performance from your cells (Eneloop or any other cells) while using it.

The problem is that charger charges cells in pairs. To get optimum performance you need a charger that charges each cell individually.

You need to consider what's "optimum" for you.

How much do you care if you only get

95% of the usage on average
95% of the battery lifetime on average
Charge in 2 hours vs. 16 hours

etc. vs. spending more money on a charger, spending extra time doing an optimal charging/maintenance process?

FYI - I have no idea what the "correct" percentages are for this particular charger. Figure out what you think the lifetime difference will be for your usage and what it's worth to you.

How often do you actually run the batteries down on your device and not have spare batteries?

By the way, the problem isn't Eneloop vs Duracell. I believe both Eneloop and Duracell chargers have charge in pairs and individual style chargers.
