I want to make a bike headlight using

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-3-x-AA-4-5V...ronics_Batteries_Chargers?hash=item27ae53e296

Its for my beach cruiser. I was looking for an aesthetically pleasing look. something out of the way, hidden perhaps. also I want to hide the wires.

can you please help me with:

1. a good location for the box?
2. tips on hiding the wires?

and maybe just maybe a

3. handle bar mounted switch...

thanks

Why not just mount a self contained unit (your choice of flashlight) with an inexpensive mount (lockblocks or something from DX)?

If you need longer burn time than carry extra batteries. If you need more light mount a second handlebar light or put one on your helmet.

Remember the Keep It Simple rule.

Fabrication is expensive. I'd say build it in SS and sit down with a file to fit it onto the handlebars. That'd take a long time, but it'd cost less than a new bike.

I put mine on the water bottle mounts:

As you can see I don't try too hard to hide the wires.

Obvious answer is hub dynamo. You could probably fit a standlight circuit inside one of those big chrome bullet housings.

Came across this light with battery inside. Not likely a lot of light, but way more than the incandescent bulb ones of my youth, I'd bet. And you can get addicted to bike light building by upgrading it! What a deal! :naughty:
