A2 tailcap problem

so my surefire a2 tailcap is acting awry... when pushed all the way down it doesnt engage the incan, or when it does it is only at half capacity, sometimes if i mash down on it a couple times it get the incan to come on at full capacity like its supposed to... any suggestions? I cant get the tail cap assembly apart either...

That is typical behavior when the batteries need to be changed.

Are you using a different brand of batteries now? Some brands of batteries don't have enough juice to put the light into full regulation, the A2 is a bit picky.

To test if the tailcap is not a problem, unscrew the tailcap and press a paper clip, key, etc, to the battery negative contact and the threads. If it lights up fully your tailcap is defective.

Make sure the end of the tube is clean and not gunk'd up with grease/lube.
