Is it possible to use single 17670 instead of 2xCR123 ?
Does it stay in regulation?
Does it effect (reduce) output lumen in turbo mode?
What would be tail cap current reading at turbo mode with single 17670, 2xCR123 and 2xRCR123?
Anybody can test it please?
Thank you in advance.

Both my P3D and my PD30 will run on one 17670 instead of two 16340s.

I can't really see a difference on turbo mode, but measurement would be much better that eye-guessing.

Yet I do run my P2D in a bored P3D tube with a 17670 in order to extend runtime as a red flash on the bike.

Not sure whether that will help or not...

Cheers,

Rémy

Just did some quick measurements:

2xCR123, Panasonic fresh out of the box
Voltage each: 3.28V and 3.24V
Turbo: 0.67A
High: 0.25A
Med: 0.09A
Lo: 0.02A

With 1x17670 (Kd Cell)
4.19V
Turbo: 0.93A
High: 0.35A
Med: 0.13A
Lo: 0.03A

My RCR123 need to be loaded again.... ;)

And now the RCR123
4.16 and 4.12V

Turbo: 0.47A
High: 0.18A
Med: 0.07A
Lo: 0.01A

In my eyes the p3d stays fully regulated and turbo mode seems pretty much the same on all batteries.

remy b,
You are right. There is not much difference in turbo output.
Fichtenelch,
According to your measurements and assuming initial voltage of CR123 2.7V under 0.67A load, initial voltage of 17670 3.9V under 0.93A load, and initial voltage of RCR123 3.8V under 0.47A load, total power to LED will be as follow at least for initial few minutes:

2xCR123, Panasonic fresh out of the box
Voltage each: 3.28V and 3.24V
Turbo: 0.67A
2x2.7x0.67=3.618
Run time about 90 minutes
---
With 1x17670 (Kd Cell)
4.19V
Turbo: 0.93A
3.9x0.93=3.627
Run time about 90 minutes
---
And now the RCR123
4.16 and 4.12V
Turbo: 0.47A
2x3.8x0.47=3.572
Run time about 75 minutes
---

To me this is pretty good regulated.

Folks, how do you run your P3D/PD30 ? Pair of primaries, single 17670 or pair of RCR123 ?

I remember reading the P3D having the same problem as the Olight T20. The blinking low battery feature that prevents you from driving Lithium primaries into reverse polarity, will only allow you to get about half the capacity from a 17670 before it starts blinking. I thought I saved a few link on the subject but couldn't find anything useful.

Rechargeable cells only because I use my flashilights a lot and because primaries are way too expensive on this side of the pond.

Hello Fivemega,

While the PD30/P3D type lights from Fenix do seem to operate on a 17670, historically speaking, it has not been considered a viable solution because the low-battery indicator that is built in is based on input voltage. The single li-ion cell usually causes more hassle than is worth, leading people to the purchase of a 1x18650 LED platform.
