Cool SST-50 Mag with 3" reflector

I started some time ago with a 3" head for a Mag625 since the reflector 2" is too small for a big bulb. I also bought AW-Driver, but after a short on time, the solder went liquid and the driver died

The head is made of 6061-T6 and it was done on a "hobby lathe".
It tooks a LOT of hours, the raw piece was 95mm (3.74"). So you can imagine with small feeds and 500W motor, it will nearly never completed.
Next time, I buy for sure a compleat head

Its a 2 1/2C mag with 3 GP SCHR Ni-hm cells in direct drive. After charging them, I let them stay for 2 days or I do a quick discharge to drop the voltage.
It starts at 5.8A, after 35min its 4.2A. The ideal battery

    Some pics from the head:

    Here is it!

What reflector did you use? Any void at tightest focus?

The reflector is from fivemega, I ordered a VLOP but it looks like more a SMO.
I cant say its a "SMO" or "VLOP". It has small rings from begin to end, maybe this qualify as a VLOP.

The complete head weighs with reflector and 3mm thick glass 414 gr (13.3oz) so thats pretty heavy,
but I have some play with a average 6mm wall thickness.

    Its a noname lathe:

there are some others manufactor who sell very similar lathes.

Its upgraded with a 3-phase 400v 500w motor ,Multifix tool holder & bigger chuck.

    Code:
Cool! you should make em to sale
I would end as poor man when I m thinking about the time it take

10 years ago as a machinist, it would take with complete code maybe 10min on a cnc with "power" and CrMo-steel (around 1000Nm/mm2 tensile strength)

Some awesome work on that head. The SST-50 works great with that large reflector!
