Winter is coming to the Great South Land and with it the perfect excuse for a new set of bike lights for those early morning (dark) bike rides through the bush.
After looking at light output, battery capacity, run times, weight etc I decided to make a twin (warm white) P7 unit using a HIPflex driver, Dx reflectors, copper pipe and misc bits from my junk heap. Battery is 8x18650's (4Sx2P).

As you can see there is a remote mode switch on the handlebar for Hi/Lo (The HIPflex is in bicycle mode) and the battery box complete with master switch, fuse and driver for the tail light is on the frame of the bike.

The tail light is very bright (perhaps too bright) and I'm waiting to see if any LEO's want to have a chat with me about it.

The traditional beam shot follows.

I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy my early morning rides this winter and really like the warm whites much more than the "colder" colours.

Hi,

I am in the same boat here in Sydney having now lost daylight savings. I am very interested in the setup you have posted about, what are the odds of some more details and maybe a how-to?

Where in Australia or even sydney can you buy the parts for this sort of setup?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Can't help with shops there but web contacts, some.
You might want to give a fellow Aussie a look see: http://www.cutter.com.au/categories.php

A bloke in this forum called Welight is involved with that operation. Good to deal with. Got free shipping stateside over Christmas. Very nice.

ktronik is another bloke in this forum who hails from 'down under' and has a light atttitude: http://www.cncdelite.com/

Another bike light forum with various suppliers in this subsection:
