Flashlight threads help

I am still something of a newbie here, and I have a question.

When people refer to the 'threads' in a flashlight, exactly what part of it are they referring to? Are threads the grooves that lock tailcap/head to the body when twisted? Are they the internal springs and connectors? I am unsure.

Hi CT, welcome to CPF. Yes, the threads are the grooves that hold everything together. Just like on a nut and bolt..turn to tighten or turn to loosen.
