while cleaning my twisty yesterday (deoxit) i noticed a paperclip thingy soldered on the L.E.

im guessing its something to do with the switching,

but is it really durable?

looks like it moves a bit when i gently wipe it with a q tip and deoxit??

I believe it is part of the switching and it is durable enough. The newer Twisties have been updated to not use them I am told.
