A link to a site that describes Streamlight in 'their' words.
Hope it isn't against policy to post this link. But it thusfar has been the most informative Streamlight history tale I've seen. And it's got a lot of info regarding lots of other brands for those researching histories, features and what-not.
Or how about some flashlight college by Bright Guy

Hope this too isn't against policy. Very informative for the newbs.
For those like me who don't dig on you tubes much:
Streamlight is in Pa USA and only there. About 200 employees all in one facility.
They started in the 70's on a contract with NASA to develop a 5 million candle power light. Then comercially they sold 1 million candle power lights as search & rescue lights.
That lead to what we see today.
They also have numerous 'other' types of lights.
The SL is a broad spectrum flooder type light.
The HP is a thrower
The HL is both.

^^ another version going back further.
Apparently they were trying to (and dang near did) duplicate the sun's candle power in 1973. Who Fire?
