I have a 15 year old Sl20X that I got in the academy...around 2004 I replaced the battery and also bought a Streamlight Strion as a back up..both lights seem to work okay but I'm wondering if it's time to replace them...I haven't recharged them very many times...so do you get a set number of charges no matter how old the battery is or is it wise to put fresh ones in if they are over 5 years old?

BTW, both of these are incancesdents and I tried to post this in the general flashlight forum but for some odd reason, I could not scroll down to hit the post button...also, there was no slider bar on the right....very strange...:(

Re: rechargeable Battery replacement

It might be a great time to upgrade to the newer models if you need to pay for battery packs but that's up to you. I bought a Strion about the the same time you did and even though I have not recharged it 500 times the battery still needs to be replaced.

I'm not going to bother with it but I think I can buy a upgrade module for LED. Below is a link to various battery packs for the SL. Sorry I can't be more help with what battery's fit and what LED upgrade's do what but I have had my Streamlight's just siting in a drawer for some time now and have not bothered with them to much, maybe someone else will come along and give you some more informative help.
