I just got a new set of AW 18650s (2600) for my M1X and they do not fire the light. I ran 4 cr123s to check that it is not the light and they work fine. I do not beleive it to be a dead cell...but I need to check that with a meter. Could it be a contact problem?

The cells you are using have a flat top. The M1X is not compatible with flat topped batteries. The flat top inhibits a connection. So it would be a contact issue.

:welcome:

The 2600mah ones are flat topped with no steel button top like the 2200mah.

Unfortunately you'll will have to get 18650 batteries with a button top or purchase some small magnets to act as a button to provide contact between the flat surfaces. This practice is not encouraged as an electrical short can occur if the magnet(which acts as the positive terminal) shifts its position due to a hard knock and makes contact with the flashlight body which basically acts as a negative terminal. Shielded magnets are available, but they are a little hard to find. Might as well just spend the $$$ on getting button topped 18650s like the AW2200mah.

Instead of a magnet how about scuffing up the positive terminal and putting a spot of solder on it?
