Any CPF'ers able to identify this old thing?

I just randomly searched "4d torch" into ebay today and this popped up. It caught my eye. I'm still *extremely* new to flashlights so I'm guessing you guys would have no problems ID'ing this thing. I just thought to myself, how damn big were the reflectors/nosecaps back then (whenever this was, I'm not good with historical flashlights but I'm guessing from the yellowing of the lens, about 50s maybe earlier?)

Another thing that caught my eye is that the tailcap is shaped a bit like the tip of a bullet, any reason for this? Was it so night watchmen could hit intruders in the gut with it?
