I Like it, good move
Terrible new name
I swear there was already a thread on this which I posted on :S
Anyways, could it be a legal reason? If it is there might not be a problem now but it may cost them down the road.
Before it kind of sounded like something wise, like being led by the ways of the sun, now it sounds like something a hippie would say, "you gotta like, feel the ways of the sun man'"
What kind of self respecting nocturnal being cannot see in the dark, one way or another?
Does that mean my M10R and M40A Sunwayled lights have to go back because the light is defective; the name on the lights are a mis-print.
Or for the conspiracy theorists among us, is this a very sneeky way of not having to pay out on any repair jobs because there is no longer a Sunwayled company ??
Wonder if my M20C and M30A (in the post) will have the defect fixed and say Sunwayman?
Flashlight Selection Process: Pick any two, and only two of the following: Bright, Cheap, Long-Runtime.
Sunwayman .....![]()
I got a good laugh reading through this thread and definitely agree that both names scream "cheap;" especially the new super hero name.
Let's give the company some ideas while not deviating too far from their brand. How about:
- Sunway (I know...I think of Jarrod at Subway too)
- SW (this might work when tagged with their models) For example, SW M60R or the SW C10A
- Alright, someone else weigh in here
...and He separated the light from darkness. Check out my lights.
At least they didn't change the name to Lucky Garden or Jade Palace.
Here is a funny website. Hit "generate new name" and it gives you a randomly picked Chinese restaurant name. Hit your browser back button to reset it and hit the button again. The site is called "Chinese Restaurant Name generator 2.0". I think it is an actual tool to help pick a name for a Chinese restaurant owner.

In 1959 Cuba wanted "CHANGE" too.
My Lights Here
My biggest light-hog is my camera.
+1 meh.
At least they are getting free discussion out of the change, whatever the reason.
No, I don't buy into that, at least not unconditionally. In this case it won't hurt them in the lon run although surely having to deal with any amount of name or brand confusion for a fledgling new product company is not helpful to their cause.
In this case the change is so insignificant and lacking in value -- it buys nothing, but has a price to it -- that no right-thinking manager would decide to make the change on their own accord, so I buy into the hypothesis that they were forced to by circumstance.
Preferred the old name over the new. So far only been tempted by the 4xAA but haven't dished out any $$ for products of either name.
+1 for adding "Meh!" as a choice to the poll.
Just checked past the post office and DAMN! Got another defective Light!

The original domain sunwayled.com is listed as being owned by "Shenzhen Xin splendor photoelectricity limited company".
SUNWAYMAN is at least shorter !
Stop mocking Sunwayman. They make great "Falshlight".

+1, all the more since i'm French with a very bad english and do not understand the difference between sunwayled and sunwayman. Both are just "globish" names for me, without any second signification related to them.
I'm probably not the only one to buy a flashlight for its quality, and don't care about the brand name.
Flashlights are "everyday" tools but if someone is buying them for collecting and keep them on a shelf, then i better understand why this "3 letters" anecdotal change could "hurt": a nice name is probably very important to regard them like as many "precious".
My vote goes to "i don't care".
By seeing vote results, those serigraphed with the infamous "sunwayman" name are the "defective" one.
Enjoy your sunwayled !

I agree both Sunwayled and Sunwayman both sounds like unreliable Chinese flashlight out there. The brand just not reflect to product it self IMHO.
Maybe this is the idea behind their brand:
Man 1: Hey man check this out ( pointing sunwayman to man 2 eyes and turned it on )
Man 2: Daanggg !! whats was that man??! that was bright!
Man 1: it is Sunway man !!!!![]()
The name is indeed HORRIBLE !
But I own a M40A and I must admit it's an incredible ''falshlight''. It's, by far, a lot better than Nitecore or Jeatbeam in terms of quality. The machining is flawless, very solid, incredibly bright, the nicest MC-E beam I've ever seen, the magnetic switch is precise and it takes AA which is a great option for convenience.
The name really suck but the product itself really worth looking at it.
sig line removed to help search function...
I must admit I do cringe a little when seeing a glaring typo like Falshlight on the product packaging. Had it been misspelled on the light itself, maybe I would be dissuaded from buying the light regardless of its potential utility.
Despite the typo, selfbuilt's review of the M40A showed a very intriguing product in a 4xAA format that I have been waiting to see. What a robust looking battery carrier that Falshlight has! If not for Fenix's soon to be introduced LD40 chances are I'd already own a M40A Falshlight and no doubt proudly so rather than sitting on the fence as I am at present, wondering whether a Falshlight or a Flashlight will win me over.

Personally, I think Sunwaydude would have been a much better choice.

Man, it's been a bad day. But this thread lightens the mood. "Falshlight" reminds me of the German term "falsch" for false. Sunwayman is just so false. Sounds like they let a four year old pick the name. Anyway, you can always file the silly name off of the light like the serialnumber on that sawed off shotgun. Wait, did I just give away my criminal tendencies...?![]()
