Sorry, this light has been sold.

I have often seen some Ti bolsters on expensive knives that were carved with various burs, the indentations thus created provide an interesting texture and visual pattern. My intent was to try to mimic that, but on a round body, not something flat.

I didn't recreate the same look, but I do like the appearance of the intersecting grooves and the wavy lines created where the opposing cuts intersect, hence The Wavelength name. And the texture is quite different from most standard lights, to say the least.

I hope to re-create The Wavelength, but in titanium next. Alas, the price in Ti will be considerably higher.

Here are some photos:

The Wavelength--a prototype in 6061AL
  • Twist light
  • Seoul P4 U3SVNH LED
  • GD750 driver
  • AW18650 rechargeable battery
  • Khatod 20mm stippled reflector
  • O-ring sealed
  • Mineral glass lens
  • Dimensions: 100mm long x 25.65mm diameter
Note: This is a prototype, so you will find some minor errors in the machining of the light, where I was experimenting with the various angles that the grooves were cut on--but nothing really glaring--you'll have to look closely to find them. And, yes, the pattern on the head is slightly different than the pattern on the battery tube--after all, it is a prototype, and I wanted to see which one I like better.

Price: $450 including First Class mailing world-wide.

Dat's exotic! It reminds me of a migraine.

Are the edges as sharp as they look?

donn,

There are no sharp edges on the light--it was tossed in a vibratory tumbler for days on end, and after that I spent close to an hour on the buffing machine. It is silky smooth.

It's a long, silver pinecone!

Nice work Fred. Phenominal as usual!

I'm now leaning toward making the Ti version in a slightly shorter version, using the 18500 battery--it's tough doing deep drilling in Ti.
