What battery configuration is good for the Carley Lamps CL1909 bulb? We are looking to make a small, portable burning flashlight with a smaller diameter (<25mm)

I'd recommend 3xIMR18650. Only problem is if you stick with your diameter requirements, the length may become an issue. Ideally you would want the cells in a triangular arrangement such as Fivemega's excellent Megallenium setup, but in your case that setup violates your diameter requirements. I've used 3xIMR18500 cells and the output in a D26 Sunlight module was unimpressive considering what the bulb is capable of.

what about 10x 2/3AA batteries? I got this suggestion from a very well-respected flashlight maker.

Use Google Search, CPF only at the top of every CPR page. Write in CL1909 and there are many, many treads re this topic. Moving this to Incandescent forum.
