Surefire U2 with XM-L ?

I just got my 1st XM-L light, the 4Sevens 123X. Could the XM-L be a direct replacement for the Luxeon V that is in my original U2? Leave the circuit and all the same, but switch out the LED. It could make a killer light, if it would work. Thoughts?
