It was a very *special* Baby Pin of course, definitely not the same as THIS one.
But before I get to how this lux reading was achieved, let me tell my little story -- first, it uses a different circuit:
It's an interim fix that runs surprisingly well on just one 123 (and yes, it is indeed a 123 battery this time, not a CR2!).
Here's a picture of relative sizes as compared with other little lights we already know and love:
The stock reflector was really quite mediocre, so an NX-05 was used:
And it registered a light meter reading of 357. Whoop de doo. TW4 (L4 head on E1 body) made 380. Another big whoop de doo.
But then -- BUT THEN -- I was moving stuff around on my workbench and look what just happened to roll together:
I picked up the parts and fiddled with them. Hey, perfect fit:
The original head was used as a "candle mode stand" alá Minim*g to facilitate pitcher takin'.
And now for the piéce de resistance:
I didn't bother with a beamshot as it simply looks like a dimmer Space Needle II, after all it's the same emitter and same reflector, just on 3V regulated vs. 9V direct.
Now wait'll the Real circuit gets here (any day now), the one that slightly overdrives the 5W at 800mah. In the meantime if I could just find a suitable holder for that big reflector...
I am determined to breathe life into my Baby Pin yet (*asbestos gloves not included).
