I am hoping someone can help me id my unusual-looking Ever Ready item. It looks like a church candle lighter/snuffer at first glance, but is, I believe, an early flashlight. I have gained so much information reading the forum info over the last few days, but still can't find an item shaped like mine.
A few details:
28 long
Stamped: US Pat. Jan 3 99
E. R. on the switch *I am sure that is the technical term
ER insignia on the bottom (threaded)
ER in an almost heart-like hanging hook at the top
In the snuffer area, there is the original bulb with filament intact
Black handle is also marked/embossed Ever Ready Trademark
After some reading, I am thinking it is dated from 1902-1903 (because of the nature of the end mark and the type of switch). But really, I know very little, so any ideas are welcome. And if there is a name or value attached to like items, that would be great to know.
Thank you so much for any thoughts you may have. I appreciate your time! Cheers - Kalli
