Aaa or aa lamp recommendations

I am looking for a high output headlamp but want to stay mainstream on batteries. Also want to keep it simple. So what is best of show?

Assuming you mean AA or AAA? Check out the zebralights, spark, and princetontec lines. These are all well regarded here.
