Hi

Having found this forum and done lots of reading i am now going to attempt my first Mag Mod.

What i want to know is i have noticed some heatsinks are Bare machined aluminium like the H22A Heatsinks http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?310770-********-H22A-Heatsinks-********

and some are coated ( Insulated ) like this one here http://www.litemania.org/product.php?id_product=10

I have ordered the Bare Aluminium ones from the above link and this led on a 16mm board http://www.lck-led.com/p865/Cree-XL...mm-Board-U2-Group,1000Lm@3A/product_info.html I noticed it stated " Electrically neutral thermal path " do i just use conductive thermal compound ( Arctic Alumina epoxy ) to attatch the LED to the bare heatsink or do i need to buy a NON conductive thermal glue confused please help advise.

I could be wrong but i believe it doesn't matter because cree/cree stars are electrically isolated.

I don't think I've ever seen a mounting board that is not isolated. Especially if it says "Electrically neutral thermal path" then it is isolated. Also Arctic Alumina epoxy is a pure electrical insulator.
