    Default Fenix TK60 - 1000 lumens 3 or 4 D-cell

I just learned of this today. It appears to basically be a D-cell version of the TK41. There is very little information so far, but here is some good information and photos:

Just wondering what LED are they going to use. Because it is impossible to get 1000 ANSI lumens with XM-L (without heavy overdriving). Or do they mean 1000 emitter lumens?

According to Cree's XM-L specs for the T6, 910 emitter lumens is what you get with 3 amps. I'd guess that 800 ANSI lumens is about right. I don't know how they'll get 1,000 ANSI without overdriving. Perhaps they're very confident in the heat sinking.

Nice, but I'm still waiting for the TK70. This TK60 is just like the TK41, but then with D-cells.
(Yes, the TK60 is indeed brighter)

For those who are interested. Wayne at Elektrolumens has already announced the idea of selling a Blaster NG with an XML, brute of a light, much more hefty than most, good heat sinking and about 1000 lumens too.

Think it will be about $150.

Looks like a great light too... Seems like Fenix is starting to move in on Mags territory... riot batons that also have a secondary function as a barely passable flashlight... not necessarily in that order for Fenix though... LOL

738 Yuan = about 79.25 Euro. Nice, but I don't think that it will be available for that price. Think it will go here for €130,- ( just like the TK41)

I thought it was going to 4 or 5 cells (with extender).
3 alkaline D-cells isn't going to run flat regulation of high mode for very long. and I wouldn't consider running turbo on alkaline, it is just not going to happen.

Maybe Fenix thinks NiMH D-cells are the next big thing.

    It does use 4.

I guess the extension tube allows the NiMh 4 cells to give the needed voltage that 3 alkalines would. The capacity NiMh D cells is a huge plus for extended high output. This light would be a great search and rescue light.

NiMH hold their voltage much better than alkalines under load.
Turbo mode of 800 ANSI lumens should be a 10 watt draw from the batteries. 3 or 4 alkaline D-cells just won't do.
Heck High mode of 350 ANSI lumens should be a 3 watt draw.
I'd like to know if the driver can handle the 5-C cell + PVC mod? [it would be longer, but slightly lighter] A quality alkaline C-cell should be able to sustain 0.6 watt.

Brilliant LE / cop light. As previously mentioned in this thread, given the choice between a 4D Mag (even their LED offerings) and a Fenix TK60, it's a no-brainer IMO for a nightstick/flashlight for security or LE duties. I'm looking forward to seeing a selfbuilt review of this one!
