Any feedback as to which sharpens quicker? I read the interupted surface has the recesses so the 'swarf' or removed metal can collect their. But it seems interupted surface offers significantly less surface area that is actually coated with the sharpening diamond. This leads me to wonder if the continuous surface sharpeners will remove more material per pass as it is, well, continuous (and perhaps %40 more diamonds per square inch than the interrupted pattern).

My idea right now is a 6" dia-sharp double sided extra coarse and coarse sharpener. I thought this could be useful for tools (shears, machete etc.) and also help re-profiling knives. (I have a spyderco sharpmaker w extra diamond triangles for knife maintenance) I also like the idea that the dia-sharp could sit against the sharp maker rods to really speed up re-profiling my knife blades.
