I was thinking the same thing, even though neither one is my team. But then again, that matchup might remove the drama as ONE of them would HAVE to win! Are you a Rockies fan, RevDavid?
I've always wanted to see the Mariners and the Braves play one another in the post-season. Looks like this year ain't gonna be it though... the M's hung their bats up for the last time this year on Sunday night.
I'm a New Englander and huge Red Sox fan but if they were to play and lose to the Cubs in the World Series, I wouldn't feel too bad. I personally do not want to see Yankees and Braves under any circumstances!
Actually, I am a Cubs fan. Next to the Cubs I like the Red Sox. I lived in New England for a number of years, but grew up a Cubs fan. I still root for the home team though, so I have been known to cheer for the Rockies, except maybe when they play the Cubs.
The Cubs and Braves are playing again on KCPQ-13 here in Seattle.
So far, it's 0-0 top of the 2nd.
(Edit) Now it's 1-1 top of the 5th.
(Edit) Oh {vulgar term for feces}, now it's 3-1 Braves in the top of the 5th. Someone just hit a home run.

The Cubs and Marlins are playing tonight on Fox, so we'll see how things go in another 10 hours or thereabouts.
I think they've each won 1 game apiece as of now.
Ok, it's the Cubs 5-0 in the bottom of the 5th.
If I remember, the Marlins pitcher walked the bases loaded in the 1st, and a Cub hit a grand salami to make it 4-0 then.
The Red Sox lost today, so I think the Red Sox and Yankees are tied with 2 games apiece.
Nope; the Yankees lead 2 games to 1. Tomorrow's matchup is Wells vs. Burkett.
Oddly enough, I don't want a Sox/Cubs World Series, because then one of them HAS to win, and it removes some of the drama for me. I'd like a Cubs/Yankees series. That way, if the Cubs win, they can certainly say they earned it!
Indeed my boys, the Red Sox did lose today so tomorrow pretty much is a must win game. What a weird game including 72 year old Don Zimmer charging the mound against Pedro Martinez then later, Jeff Nelson and other Yankees attacking a Red Sox groundskeeper in the bullpen because he showed exuberance over an inning ending double play.
It is looking good for the Cubs.
I am still hoping for the Red Sox, but I would still be pleased with a Cubs vs. Yankees World Series... lots of history there... mostly bad for the Cubs, but this could be their year. One thing you can say for Zim... he still has the fire... lol. By the way, I saw they took Zimmer to the hospital afterwards. I hope he is okay.
Tomorrow could make the picture a lot clearer. In the meantime, I am still hoping, and having fun doing it!
It's chilly and sleeting in Hades.
If the Cubbies win one more it wil start snowing.
If they beat the Red Sox in the series the whole place will freeze over...
