allburger, I have an old 3D Mag that I would like to upgrade. Running 3x18650's what LED drop in would you recommend? I am looking at a
TLE-6EX which is for a 4-6 D-cell, I am thinking I need this one because the voltage will be higher?
The drop in you mentioned if it is for a 4-6 cell maglite (4 of 1.5volts= 6volts or 6 of 1.5volts=9volts) if using 3 of 18650 that is 11 volts in a low charged state or 12 volts when freshly charged it will probably blow the led and or it's circuit.. I am not sure that there is a drop in for that voltage but you can mod the mag light, although it is not as simple as a drop in (more fun though!)
Edit, just realised you could possibly put a resistor in the circuit to bring the voltage down, I am sure someone has a better idea though!

Thanks, wondering if there is a Malkof that would work? Trying to keep it simple and low budget. I have quite a few 18650's so using them would be ideal, maybe use 2 with a dummy or spacer?
Good idea 2 of 18650 would be 7.4 volts so would be right with in the range of the plug in you mentioned or the 4-6 cells malkoff
Agreed. I would recommend using 2 18650's and a dummy, or if it's in the budget, buy a nice shiny 2D maglite and run two 18650's.

I will take one as well.

Sending payment for 1 x 2D Survival Tube.
Thanks.
Edit 1/14/12:
Just got my 2D Survival Tube yesterday and I am very happy with the product and overall quality.
Highly reccommended. I just might have to get another one for my wifes maglite.

Any way to fabricate a similar set up for running 2 18650's in a 3C Mag. I've got one to work by stretching the spring and shimming the batteries with rubber O-rings but it is a somewhat funky arrangement. I would much prefer your approach. Can it be done? Thanks, btw, love the 2D set up!
I would be interested in a tube for c mags as well.
Payment sent for 1x 2D tube.
Payment sent for another 2D Survival Tube.
Are these still available?
what a great idea![]()
