QTC models still turn on even after pills wear out?

I believe, i read, they function as a single level light. However,removing the qtc pill completely, in some models, requires modifications.

Hopefully, it'll take years before the pills wears out.

I asked this question several months back and IIRC, Curt chimed in to say that the light will continue to function when the pill disintegrates in a single level mode.

Yep, if the QTC wears out, the metal in the pill contacts the other side of the pill = single level (high only).

So the actual QTC material is inside the nickel looking disc? (Which has a whitish plastic ring surrounding it to support the sponge/rubber washer?)
