I am willing to buy 2 bike lights preferably 900 lumens or more with protected battery packs and efficient heatsinks that would be good for an extended use application, for example long rides at slow speeds.

wow.. tall order.. without going into something really big on your handle bars, your options are limited.. and at 900 lumens any small light will die out quick, unless you wire it to a larger power source or maybe your peddling. tho i do have a 700 lumen recommendation, if youre interested, this 3 inch long flashlight can put out 700 lumens, and has a 100% output, 30% output, and 2% output mode. im currently ordering one, and waiting for it to ship

tho if youre seriously looking for a beast bike light, heres a 1400 lumen specially made to be a bike light

i will keep an eye on this thread tho, as im looking for something similar, and have yet to find anything suitable

Oveready triple XPG / Modoolar 1100 lumen with TL130 tube / 2x18650 should provide you at least 2-3 hours runtime (based on 2x18500 1500mAH gives 75 minutes runtime).
Oveready
Forgot to add. I use the 2x18650 combination with Fenix Bike Mount

MJ-808E from DX is $78 USD. Pretty great deal considering it's a turnkey solution and the price includes shipping. Probably not quite 900 lumens though.
