Arrow (SOLD OUT) Alpha: Run #2 (30 pcs) (1x18650, 3 mode, 2.8A, McClicky, 430+ lumens)

    Hey CPF members!

I'm excited to announce that Run #2 is now for sale.

    Run #1 is here.

If you haven't seen my blog there's lots of background info: www.darksucks.com

I've made a few small changes from the pre-production models. Nothing big, just some tweaks. Here is more info and detailed photos from my blog.
    • My new maker's mark
    • McClicky switch
    • Provision for a custom titanium pocket clip

I have some preliminary figures from my new integrating sphere. I'm reporting based on the ANSI FL1 standards. I haven't (yet) followed them perfectly but I'm reasonably confident these figures are accurate.

    Cree MCE (MC18-B)
    (LED options: 6000K "N-Bin" cool, 5700K cool, 4000K neutral)

    Cree XML (XM18-B)
(LED options: U2 5700K cool, T5 5000K neutral) Limited Release (10 pcs) I also have about 10 TIR lenses and compatible XML boards. I don't think I can get any more so if you want this option let me know. Intensity is over 7000lux @ 1m.

Cree XPG High CRI (93+) (XP18-B)
This is pretty self explanatory...(3000K warm) Driven @ 1.4A so you will get LOTS of run time with an 18650.

    Cree XRE (XR18-B)
I also have this XRE-R2 (6000K) option. (not listed on my site) This is a good choice if you want more throw and want to run CR123 Primaries. This is driven @ 1.4A so you are going to get a lot more run time as well. Please post here or email if you are interested.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SPECIFICATIONS: (all styles are mechanically identical)

This light is designed for a single 18650. The XRE and XPG lights "will run" on 123 primaries. The driver can handle up to 6V, but the driver itself will get hot when using primaries. The driver WILL NOT run on 2xRCR123's...you will fry it. The XML and MCE can operate on low and medium with 123 primaries, but the current draw on high will be excessive, cause heating, and possibly catastrophic failure of the battery. In general, I DO NOT recommend primaries for these lights if you want the best and most trouble free performance. Stick to 1x18650.

    MCE/XML Driver: Shiningbeam 2.8A CC (3 mode)(2.8V-6V)(100%=2.8A,30%=1A,5%=.14A)
    XPG/XRE Driver: Shiningbeam 1.4A CC (3 mode)(2.8V-6V)(100%=1.4A,30%=.44A,5%=.06A)
Reflector: Ledil Boom SS (Smooth Spot, FWHM 10°)
Window: UCL glass 2 side AR coated
MCE Run time: 1.5 hours on high (measured)(XML & XPG not tested yet)
    Switch: McClicky
Wire: 24 AWG Mil-spec, stranded copper, silver plated, teflon coated
    Solder: silver solder
    Body: 6061 T6 aluminum
    Coating: Electroless Nickel
Driver Mounting Post: C101 oxy-free electronic copper
O-rings: Nitrile (Buna-N) 70 durometer (lights are fully o-ringed and TESTED to 300 feet for 5 hours)
Lube: Nano-Oil on threads and O-rings
    Overall dimensions: Head Diameter=1.2 / Body Diameter=1 / Length=5.75

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm going to keep this thread short, if you want to see the original sales thread, click here. This has more background info.

Better add some beamshots! This is an animated GIF so...wait for it.

Okay, I'll stop stalling: Here is the sales part!

    PRICE: $199.00 USD (light ONLY)
PRICE: $229.00 USD (light + battery + charger)

    Style: Blasted + Polished

    Click for 1024x768 images

    Style: Stone Washed

    Click for 1024x768 images

    Style: Brushed

    Click for 1024x768 images

    HOW THIS WORKS:

So I'm selling these lights on my website and managing sales here and on the site is getting really confusing.

Please order directly from my site!

If you want to get your light as fast as possible, post an "I'll take it" on this thread with the following info and I'll get started building it immediately. Otherwise I won't start till I get your order through paypal.
    1. Finish Style (Blasted+Polished, Stone Washed, Brushed)
    2. LED choice (MCE, XML, XPG High CRI,XRE-R2)
    3. Button color (Black, orange, or GITD green)
    New Offering!

Now (for $5.00) I will hand color your Ti clip with a torch flame. This produces the same oxide layer as "Ti Anodizing" but it's accomplished by heating the metal. Every clip looks different and is an individual work in it's own right. Oh, and it looks awesome.

These are fantastic lights. If I can squeeze together the money, I'll be picking up another one, MCE w/ Boom to match my XML with TIR.
    4Sevens: AA Tactical, AA^2 Turbo-X, MMU-X, MMU-X3.
Dark Sucks: Alpha XM18-T. Download's Pocket Rocket, v8.

So I'm going crazy I think. Someone requested a light that also had the grooves tumbled instead of bright. After looking through all my emails and PM's, for the life of me I can't figure out who that is. If it's you, I have your light ready to go! Please email or PM

Considered heating the whole light for that awesome coloring? Stone washed with that patina would look very cool.
I seem to have misplaced my occipital lobe, and as such cannot search for it. Do you see my dilemma?

Hey Brembo, the heat coloring only works with titanium. The body of my lights are electroless nickel plated aluminum.

I also suspect the heat needed to color a Ti body light might distort it...but I haven't tried it yet

Oh and Trent, you light will be in the mail later today or tomorrow!

Jason, I have sent you a "go ahead" message for a MC18-B 4000k (don' t remember though if that was on your hotmail or a private message here on your forum..

    MC18-B 4000k.
I got inspired by your example.
Anyway I decided I am going to like it whatever the led is.

Hey there. My lights don't actually use drop-ins. They have a solid (one-piece) head for much better thermal management than with a drop-in. The MCPCB is mounted directly to the head.

In that case, Jason would you consider to provide an head alone and how much would you charge for that?
Both price for a regular and a copper one?
Would the copper head be better with the XM-L led in term of heat management?
And woud it fit ok one a regular aluminium body?

Well that didn't take long. I actually never saw the thread...but it looks like someone reported it as "inappropriate content" and it was deleted by a moderator. Maybe just stick to the Egyptian stuff

How are you liking the 4000K MCE? Not too may people have chosen that one, but that's my personal choice these days. Also, I was in a hurry and forgot to note the output of your light in my records, can you remind me what the card says for OTF? Thanks!

"inapropriate"??? Well we are talking about art and creativity and the " inapropriateness is in
The viewer' s eyes not in what I displayed! I got congratulated on other forums to have put exactely the same pictures. I ll send them to you in private

Your light is a really nice piece of craftmanship, beautifully put together, the finish is outstanding. You achieved a really fine work of precision.
The illumination is powerfull despite its 4000k bin and the levels are nicely spread. The color of light is really pleasant to the sight. Your label says 402 lumens on high..
The light body is well balanced and provides a nice feeling when in hand. I just used it indoor at the moment so I have to use it more to have an opinion about it.

This is a family friendly forum, pictures of your wooden artwork depicting too adults performing a sexual act is not appropriate. (although i though it was pretty cool)
