Spark has released SL6S which is simplified version of SL6.
SL6S keeps all the main features of SL6, but removed the tailcap switch and inner tube.

I received a SL6S-740NW and it comes with a holster, two extra o-rings, a diffuser and a user manual.

The shape of SL6S-740NW is quite same as SL6-740NW except the tailcap.

Left is SL6 and Right SL6S.
The inner tube and tailcap switch are removed. The very early SL6 version has an issue with a fat
protected 18650 cells and tailcap switch doesn't work.
There is no such issue on my SL6S.

SL6S(right) has no outer spring due to removal of the inner tube & tailcap switch.

SL6(left) has a switch, but SL6S has no one. It can tailstand perfectly.

SL6(Left) looks nicer than SL6S to me. It seems SL6S has a tailcap switch though.
SL6 has only one small hole for lanyard and SL6S has four.

The clip of SL6S(right) looks better than SL6, and has clean surface.

I have tested with several batteries on super mode.
- Surefire 2xCR123A
- Unprotected flat-top LG 18650(2600, 2800, 3000mAh)
- Unprotected flat-top Panasonic 18650(3100mAh)
- Protected button-top Jil Lite 18650(2600mAh)
- Protected buttton-top NLTEC 18650(2600mAh)

All batteries work fine on super mode except Jil Lite 18650 cell.
It can't access to the super mode due to the very high discharge ratio. I think its PCM works.

Great write-up!

I never cease to be amazed by the quality of reviews, including writing and photos, that goes into the postings on CPF.

I wish:

1) The metal could be thicker in some places...for a $100 light, the exterior wall looks scrawny

2) For a stainless bezel ring

Thanks for the review, I really like the neutral tints on the Nailbenders and compared to the Sparks NW, the Spark looks Warm to me.

I agree with you. Wish the battery tube could be thicker and the stainless bezel ring could be used.

I like the neutral tints of the Nailbenders are well-made drop-in modules. The tint on the SL6-740NW is quite good as well in real life. All the above beamshots were set to auto white balance.

I thought I should add my opinion on this as it differs:
- I have one of these in the XM-L2 version. As I use it for backpacking, I would not want the added weight of a thicker host and I see no reason for it, after 3 months of constant field use I have not found any need for a thicker and heavier light and therefore fail to see what purpose it would serve.
- I see no need for stainless, which I see as being non-functional and purely cosmetic. If anything, I would just remove the crenulations, and leave the rest the same.

At the moment this is proving to be my favourite EDC from my quiver, I see it as a functional high end light for real time field use, mainly targeted at working field professionals.
