Re: What Did You Use Your McGizmo For Today?
I used my Sundrop this morning to aid in tick removal from my pup- given the warmer than normal winter here in the northeast, we're expecting a bad season for bugs in general this spring. But ticks in particular. High cri with no hotspot makes locating and removing these little buggers much easier. Especially on her snout, close to her eye where intense light would be uncomfortable...

Used my Haiku XM-L on my son's first lighting bug hunt. We are vacationing in north Georgia (Florida does not have lighting bugs). We were out at dusk catching the flys but as it got darker it got pretty tough to catch them because you could not see them after the light went out. Out comes the Haiku. I was able to light them and catch them again. My son was very impressed. I started to explan the the XM-L was a perfect LED for this because of the flood and throw but he is only four and did not care. He just wanted more bugs for his jar.

I built Lego set 10225 R2-D2

It's the only Star Wars lego set I have and, for that matter, the only Star Wars toy I have ever owned..and I saw the movie at release when I was a kid.
I built it on a black topped table and those navy blue pieces are just about invisible on it. Also, a lot of those 2100 plus pieces are small tiles and other assorted items. It can sometimes be tough to determine where each piece goes with the instructions, fine as they are.
McGizmo to the rescue. I just left it on table twisted onto low. If I couldn't find a part or tell where to put it via the instructions the LS 20 was there to show the way.
I use the crap out of this light and this is just one more way.

SWMBO lost a few keys well going inside the house last night as she was clipping her carabiner to her bag, used it to light up the lawn to find the shiny important keys and the slightly less important but more irritating to find black one >.>. High CRI haiku helped a lot in making the odd color keys show even more!

Used my Sundrop to aid in some finish sanding of drywall in my basement. Laid along the wall or ceiling, the floody beam was great for finding high spots in my taping job. A quick rinse afterwards and good as new!

Used my Sapphire to check on my son, he is teething so sometimes wakes up crying. The Sapphire is kind to my eyes. Also use it when disposing of soiled nappies (diapers) at night - don't want to tread on a slug...

I suppose the syntax of that sentence was a bit off, wasn't it? Haha.
It's getting darker earlier - there will be ever more opportunities for using my McGs!

How do you find the beam? I would think a mule would be more useful.

Re: What Did You Use Your McGizmo For Today?
It actually ends up working very well in most situations. I end up putting the light a little farther from my work than I would a mule to get smoother coverage when using this setup. Usually I can find a comfortable distance for the Ram and it actually works out ok because it's usually not in the way of my tools and arms.
I think the mule would usually be more useful for close use but I made a compromise for two reasons. One is because a lot of my work is safety inspections and I need the intensity of the reflector to see what I want to see. The other is that a lot of my work is not in the shop so the intensity of the beam helps me when my eyes are adapted to bright outdoor conditions. Under those conditions, the mules don't help my eyes much.
oh..and... I haven't bought a terra mule yet

Every night I ceiling bounce my Haiku XPG to read by. The light is great for reading and I find it easier to fall asleep afterwards. I have a hard time falling asleep and bright lights in my bedroom seem to make it worse.

Received a new Haiku XPG2 w/AA tube using 14500's in it. Put it to work the next several days and nights installing Rooftop AC equipment on a late 1800's courthouse. Having to climb up through the center of the building to access the controllers, air handlers, and then beyond to the roof access. The ladders are the original from when it was first built and also a prime setting for a horror film. Definitely a place you need a dependable light. I really like the way this setup carrys and the run time it provides.

Re: What Did You Use Your McGizmo For Today?
I just can't believe that after a few years of using my Haiku XM-L, it remains indisputably my favorite single cell flashlight. Of course, I would have preferred a neutral white tint on this but it is not a big issue since I love the smoothness of the beam due to the XM-L in there. I like the tint on my 119 Haiku but I am not too sure I find the beam useful for my EDC usage so I decided that it must go to another owner.
Just a few weeks ago I was doing a photo shoot of a ship launch at 12 midnight. Knowing that a shipyard may not be well lit in some areas, I knew that the XM-L Haiku would provide the much needed illumination to light up those dark passages and corners, and so it came along with me that night. I had to take up position on the top of a scaffold, and since the centre of attraction was on the ship that was to be launched, all available spot lights and artificial light sources are trained on that ship. This resulted in me having to navigate through all those dark passages just to get to the scaffold. Also, the scaffold itself wasn't lit at all and I needed the extra illumination so that I could access the contents in my bag periodically. Throughout, the Haiku worked reliably and provided coverage with a nice, floody, and smooth illumination while I worked. This alone reinforced my love for the Haiku. Without a doubt, you know you are in good hands with a high end product.
