I'm flexible, so whatever date is picked should be fine for me.

According to NJ Power and Light, 500 or less in Califon are still without power. Milky may still not have power yet.![]()

Has anyone heard from Milky? Hope he isn't still sitting around waiting for his power to come back.

He was out of power for one week. I just talked to him a couple days ago. It took him a few days to get everything back to normal. He said the entire town was out for quite a while.
Cheers

So are we still looking at December 10th as the best day to get together?
Yes. The date is...
DECEMBER 10th.
We seem to have things straightened out around here in terms of power and fallen tree limbs, etc. (though believe it or not, there are still surprisingly large limbs literally hanging from utility wires just down the road!) and look forward to finally hosting PF17.
Sorry for the late alert on the exact day. Seems like this was the date most people preferred, and I've spoken offline with a few of you about the choice of 12/10... hope to see you all here!
If anyone has a problem with the date, please post in the thread and/or contact me ASAP.
Incidentally, my email address in case PM inbox happens to be full...

I am going to be there on the 10th. TB pizza, right?
I'm glad it is dark, half of the time.
I will attend. Thank you Scott.
Sounds good to me - looking forward to seeing everyone!
Karl : Charge up the Abyss before you come!
I can't be there the 10th, sorry.
Looking forward to it! See you guys on the 10th!![]()
I must have been left in the dark as a child!
Unfortunately I am busy this coming weekend. I won't be able to attend this year unless my plans get cancelled. See you guys next year then!

Sorry you can't make it, carrot. I really enjoyed hearing your explanation of the Preon 2 UI, and relished our discussion of 5mm LEDs on the trail to the quarry.
milky, email sent.![]()
Don't forget we need batteries for the tank light, I don't have any
I'd love to go to this thing one of these years! This year I'm busy, but I hope you guys have lots of fun!

Some Notes
* There is a pile of dirt at the upper end of our driveway (in the process of re-grading the lawn on one side of the house). Because of this, cars won't be able to pull into our backyard the way we usually do. Please plan on parking in the Melick's Orchard parking lot, which is roughly 100 yards south of our property. (Folks who have walked to the quarry have walked past this parking lot on the way there.) If you have anything particularly heavy (car batteries? hint hint...)feel free to pull into our driveway to unload, then take the car to the parking lot when finished unloading.
* If we're going to operate the tank light, we need at least a couple car batteries! They don't need to be in tip-top shape but should hold a charge. Please charge prior to the event. Many thanks!
Looks like I will be joining the crowd that can't attend this PF due to some last minute scheduling issues. I will hopefully make the next one in the Spring! Hope everyone has fun and stays warm!

Wade, I'm sorry to hear that. Looking forward to seeing you in the spring, and if your plans change again, I hope you'll come out anyway. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Reminder To All: PF17 Survival Guide
We need some car batteries to make the tank light work.
Please bring a snack, soft drink, paper good (cups, plates, napkins), or similar to share.
If you have any interesting free-for-all trinkets, by all means bring! That's always fun. (I've always got the ever-popular Milky grip rings for anyone who wants some.)
Bring some cash for buy/sell/trade activity, pizza/dinner, mods and repairs if you wish, etc. (A trifling in the event tip jar Data introduced always goes over well with Mrs. Milky, too.)
Weather is supposed to be generally good: high 41F, low 20F (brrr), generally sunny with a few clouds.
Park in Melick's Orchard parking lot. Unload at our house first, if necessary.
A warm coat and good walking shoes are advisable for the trek to the quarry.
Anyone got any Shining Beam or Illumination Supply (a.k.a. CSSHIH) drivers? I could use some and would be happy to buy/trade for them. Plus I'll show you how I re-engineer the boards to support the Acorn firmware, heh heh...![]()
No pictures ??![]()
PF17 reminded me of some of the very first PF's - small group in comparison to the recent PF's. Everyone had a nice time - as usual Data brought a bunch of cool gadgets - mostly high end LED bulbs this year. Brian's wife made a bunch of goodies including all kinds of chocolate dipped stuff... including chocolate dipped bacon! We all had a nice array of lights and knives to check out. Milky was busy doing mods on the spot. The for sale/trade table was going strong. And thanks to Dorcy everyone went home with a free flashlight, and we had some of their latest flashlights to check out, including their new 618 lumen ANSI rated XML flashlight.
If you didn't make PF17 hang in there PF18 will be coming up in the spring? And FCW-9 (Flashaholics Camping Weekend) will likely be in May this year! --Tim
I must have been left in the dark as a child!
Thanks Scott and family for another great photon fest, kids and I had a good time. Had a few mods done and enjoyed the conversations and checking out all the lights. Thanks to Dorcy for the latest light and hope to see you guys again at PF18.
