He died doing the most important thing in the world to him. Of all the ways to go, that's not a really bad one. But I feel bad for his two young sons.

The memorial tribute (five laps in formation behind the pace car) was touching, with the drivers breaking down into tears as they got in their cars.

I just found out about this now. I remember how happy he was when he won the Indy 500. A sad story of triumph to tragedy. This just underscores how these drivers risk their lives out on the track every single time. Despite great advances in safety which have thankfully made fatal crashes like this relatively rare, they can still happen in the blink of an eye. For what it's worth, he died doing what he loved. RIP Dan.
