Can hardly wait to see the final product! Beamshots on the 4.8 version would be nice, but I'm ready for it either way
Guy, Thank You!
Can hardly wait to see the final product! Beamshots on the 4.8 version would be nice, but I'm ready for it either way
Guy, Thank You!
Seems to me I'd want the 3.6 and 4.8. Any idea of lumens/runtimes? Thanks.
Hi RCantor,
Not sure on runtimes yet.
My guess on the lumens is somewhere between 3-12,
depending on the battery configuration.
Hi DBCstm,
Will definitely have some new beamshots for you when the new batch of proto's arrive!
No problem at all,
got it now
All ya need is love, a bit of titanium, some lithium and Led's.
tgwnn
^ made me laugh, remembering the old Steve Martin skit "I've got my (Core Ti, Torpedo) and that's all I need. My Core Ti and my Torpedo and some good LEDs that's all I need. I don't need anything but my Core Ti and Torpedo and some good LEDs with some Li-ion, that's all I need. I don't need anything but my Core Ti and my Torpedo and some good LEDs and some Li-ion and some darkness, that's all I need......" and he'd go on and on and on adding one thing at a time. Nope, don't need much! LOL
I'm most likely going to be wanting one of each in this first run, depending on price.
I'm thinking I want the 3.6mm for slimness wow factor and 4.8mm for battery versatility. How many of each might depend on price...but who am I kidding - Everyone I care for is getting one in their stocking next Christmas!
Looking forward to more pictures!
Very hard Core (Ti)
Thanks Incidentalist
Thanks Hamaremon,
We are nearly there on the Core Ti.
All going well, the sample packaging (box) should be arriving with the sample next week too.
Then it will really look like a product! Counting down the minutes....
@All
I should mention that quite a few folks voted for "one-push for on / one-push for off" for the button function,
but for simplicity, version one will be momentary (keep button depressed for light).
The bright side of this is that there is literally nothing to break or malfunction and I plan on giving it the laundry test at some point too.
Once its in your hands, I'll be very open (as always) to further suggestions of course on how we can further improve it.
For now, we do have to do somewhat of a "code freeze" (aka feature freeze) or else it will never see the light of day (or is it darkness of night).

Your idea with multiple sizes is bad, I will probably have to buy more than one size.
I like the hold for on, this way there is no risk of an empty battery, just because it accidental turned on.
My website with flashlight information: lygte-info.
With: Flashlight reviews and outdoor beamshots, battery and charger tests, DMM guide in English, USB chargers and boxes.
Great update with all the necessary ingredients - important information with a little included humour. It's been almost half a year now since seeing the prototypes and if you can have them out by the start of summer should be good. Nice and lightweight, swim-proof too?
Marduke - Solitaire...I've seen matches which are brighter AND have a longer runtime. 光陰矢の如し
Hi HKJ,
About the "bad", sorry I was only planning 1 size, but I need different sizes to accomodate different batteries
I'm not sure about "no" risk, but perhaps less.
Thanks kaichu,
I'm very itchy on seeing the next version.
Preying to the flashlight gods that its perfect, finally and we can move to serious production,
before the heat of summer sets in.
Not sure yet about swim proof but based on the current design, I do think it's achievable.

Hmmmm, I wonder.....will you also supply a ti chain for wearing it or perhaps a link to where they can be found? I do have one for my wifes Ti pill fob I made her and it's very nice, almost no weight to it when placed in the palm of your hand, kind of mesmerizing really !I got mine from a place called Reactive Metals Studio, Inc. online, it's a 24" curb chain in Ti that I split a link and joined it with no clasp (www.reactivemetals.com page 30). This way there is no clasp to keep in back or turning the pendant off center when it comes around in front. Much simpler this way!
And of course, I heat anodized it gold, but if I'm not mistaken this place specializes in anodizing vivid colors....just a thought.
And of course, I have nothing to do with this company or website other than having purchased from them in the past and found their product to my liking. They have LOTS of stuff, Titanium, Nobium, Silver, Gold, lots and lots of neat goodies! lol
Hi DBC,
Thanks for posting that info.
Cool site.
I'm hoping to be able to include either a Ti ballchain or a black cotton-ish (leather like) cord so you can wear it instantly,
especially for those who want to be gifting it.
I have found some suitable chains, so once I confirm the next proto, I'll very likely place an order.
Some people have expressed they want custom chains and I imagine there will be a few who use their own custom version, which should work just fine too.

After looking at the heat anodized colored titanium picture from DBCstm, I would love to buy several pendant lights in colored titanium. It would be very nice, and a good way to get my 83 yr old mother to wear the pendant light when she goes out at night (like we tell her not to). Maybe engrave her name on it or something too, if possible. Thanks.
Hi AKbunnies,
Thanks for posting.
Colored titanium is really grande!
I experimented with some 9V batteries and pepsi way back on the first prototypes.
I have my eye on a more professional type titanium anodizing setup so hoping that the colors will be an option that is available almost at kick-off.
update@everyone
The newest prototypes are on the way!
Some sample package/boxes as well.
We are about to enter a week of off/on public holidays so I'm hoping the samples don't get held up.
prey, prey, prey that these are to spec and then we are going straight into production,
as there is little than can go wrong with these little beauties.
I will post photos as soon as the package arrives and if it looks good, I shall get cracking on setting up the pre-order list.
No logo's yet, and the final box still has some tweaking to do, but almost there...
Thanks,
tgwnn
I'm sure 90% of us will throw away the packaging once we get it. It's really only useful for gifting purposes but i mean, if a pretty box is going to delay this by another few months, then i wouldn't mind just having it in a ziplock bag and some foam around it. The packaged version can come later![]()
Hi yifu,
Thanks for the feedback.
Just so you know, the packaging will not be a cause of delay whatsoever.
I appreciate you being anxious to get a hold of the product, regardless of the package.
Won't be too long now for the CoreTi.
I should mention that some posters in the Torpedo thread had commented:
the Torpedo package is the first flashlight package they will want to display somewhere.
tgwnn
Great news! Can't wait to see it ready!
McGizmo Haiku Review Mac's Tri EDC Review MY LIGHTS!! Why buy a cheap bright light when a dim expensive one will do?
Thanks nbp,
Nothing too outrageous for the CoreTi box at this stage,
but maybe once we get past the first production run
Thanks Cataract,
Happy to see you following so closely and of course, all your feedback has been valuable and taken into consideration
tgwnn
oh, forgot to mention,
the postman has the new CoreTi proto...
should be holding it in a few hours
tgwnn
The new CoreTi proto's arrived.
They are looking super slim indeed!
Totally ultra-thin profile.
First Glimpse Below if you can find them
Below: left: 3.6mm CoreTi, right: 4mm CoreTi
There is barely any noticeable difference between the 3.6mm & 4mm versions.
The easiest way to tell them apart is to push the magic button and you quickly notice the 4mm version is far brighter.
I had to work back till unusually late today, so its way past midnight and just enough time for a quick iphone (teaser) photo,
with more to come tomorrow (unless I'm unable to sleep).
General first impression is build quality is great.
The button and internals are a big improvement (though the button does feel a little too stiff, will need to check that).
The CoreTi will stick to any magnetic surface, so you can keep them somewhere handy.
Looking forward to anodizing some of these sometime soon.
Some very very minor tweaks needed (which I think are due to the fact that its only a prototype),
but I'm almost ready to say, its done!
I will post more detail later/tomorrow and with your feedback, we can decide!
tgwnn
I see you hiding that torpedo in the back! I'm so excited for the 4mm though. Glad to see you so hyped!

Looking nice there. The rounded profile looks really professional. I thought you had settled for a rectangular LED, or did you pick different emitters for different beam profiles /batteries? I lost a few pages on the way...
Just a question for the future versions: do you envision making one with momentary + on/off (a little like the buglights) ? Maybe even a 2 mode ?
Cataract,
Shiny things specialist.
Thanks Alex
Thanks Cataract,
The rectangular LED's didn't quite have the oomph of the round ones.
The best rectangular ones were the ones that I filed down manually but the 3mm we are currently using have a broad floody beam, which seems like a great fit.
I think the road forward for a version 2, will be to try and squeeze a circuit in there somewhere for momentary/latch or two mode.
Looking at all the proto's, I think both the square and round designs are nice though the rounded profile (like a miniature macbookpro) look the thinnest by far.
I think I may drive the workshop folks crazy but I know I'd personally like to have both versions.
tgwnn
p.s. you can use the CoreTi as a remote switch for the Torpedo![]()

Hi rlcrisp,
Yes, they are looking fine.
The brushed Ti finish is very cool if you like that kind of finish.
Kind of a gun-metalish look.
Yes, I did go with the magnetic retention, so you can magically turn on your torpedo by bringing it close to your chest(when wearing the CoreTi of course)
Definitely more photo's tomorrow.
