PART 9 !!! P60 Style Custom Drop - in modules for SF and other Products. (part 8 can be found here)

Here I am offering P60 Style drop ins, they are available with Leds from the following manufacturers with some of the leds that will be offered are below.

SSC Seoul - P7 , P4
Cree -
XML , XPG, XP-E, MC-E, XRE , UV, are here in warm , neutral or cool white
Osram - Diamond Dragon , Golden Dragon Plus, PDP IR/ Ostar IR
Luminus - SST -50, SST -90
Rebel

These modules will fit most flashlights that accepts a standard P60/D26 Style module.

THESE DO NOT FIT OLD STYLE G2 HOSTS

IF a GREAT host is needed here are some great hosts by Five Mega to look at (HERE)

Here is one of the emitter in the base and converter board

You can still see a bit of a doughnut hole in this picture but most of the time we can focus all or most of it out.

This is a picture of the reflector made for the Cree XPE XPG This gives a very smooth and concentrated hotspot.
XPEmodule-1.jpg

New OPTICS Modules for XRE only

Top.jpg

All of the modules end up being as close to standard length as possible The large die leds are much thicker and there is a small possibility that there will be a crack at the head and body. I keep all as short as possible so if there is a crack there is probably nothing that can be done.

All hosts are slightly different and one module may fit tight in a SF product and a bit loose in a FM Nite clone or an FM C but they will fit all. One may need to have the spring cut down to allow the head to close or a whole spring may be needed to keep the module from rattling. They also fit most Solarforce or any P60 style host

Most LED's are carried in Cool White, Neutral White, or Warm white when possible. They will be listed if in stock if not listed probably not in stock.

Battery configs listed are for any battery that falls into the range listed.

Potting option is the filling of electronics cavity with thermal epoxy for heat management and shock protection. Copper tape is included with potting option and any module can be potted. Option is $5

Re: P60 modules - warm, neutral, cool white/XPG- XML / SST-50 -90 P60 modules (part 9

Announcements and new offerings

Hi All

this will be where I post new emitters or offerings plus any news on the module front. A few links may not work in the new part of the thread but I will work on that in the next couple of days.

I now have S2 XPG's in 1T tints and for those of you that don't keep up with the flux bins the S2 is the next step up from R5 flux, the 1T tint is one of my favs and I am sure you will like. The XPG is great for a EDC light where you want plenty of light with a good balance of throw and spill yet you still can get decent battery time. You will get about TWICE the runtime as a XML

I have also acquired some T6 XML's in 3C, I had been only able to get these in T5 flux so the 5000k XML's which are basically a daylight white are now available in the same flux bin as coolwhite.

I am always watching the suppliers for the newest flux bins best tints so check back for new offerings.

10/24/2011
For the members that want to use 2X18650's, as you know I don't have high amperage drivers that will work with 8.4 volts but I have been using my 2X18650 D36 five mega host with 2X18650 LifePo4 batts. This system has been giving me good results, now the mah are much less than li ion but I have been getting good runtime as I use mostly 10 minutes at a time taking the dogs out. You can purchase Lifepo4 18650's in numerous places from DX to batteryspace where I got mine. PLEASE remember that LifePo4 needs to be charged at 3.2 volts NOT 3.6, many ultrafire chargers have dual settings on the side. Just a option for multi celll users.

11/4/2011

The postman brought a surprise today, the long awaited XML-U2's are here in 1A tint

11/20/2011

I now carry 26650 MNKE IMR cells for those of you looking for cells for the newCooly's I also carry 18650's PM me for details. I also have chargers for these 2 items.

I will also one day this week will finally have 2.8 amp 3 level drivers for 3.4-9 volts. This means yes I can make modules with XML's that you can use in your 2X 18650's or any 2X Li Ion set up or any 3X CR123 primaries. I am not sure what day they will be here but probably tomorrow or Tuesday. They were in customs in NY yesterday so pretty soon!

I will post here again when they arrive

Dave

11/21/2011

Hi All

The new 3.4 -9 volt / 2.8 amp / 3 level with memory drivers have arrived so we now have a solution for any 2X li Ion or 3X CR123 primaries configuration.

Dave

Hi All

First off I want to wish all a safe and happy holiday season. I also want to wish a safe and prosperous NEW YEAR.

OK now to modules.

I am now stocking a few XPC's that some members have requested. i at this time only have Coolwhite. They are Q5 WC tint. Q5 is the highest flux bin made at this time. They will be available in smooth or OP. While there are some rings I have a new smooth reflector made for XPG / XPE / XPC and they really not to bad. They do have a good dedicated hotspot. They will be available in 1 / 3 / 5 levels and in 1.4 or 1.7 amps. I have been able to push these to 1.7 amps with out any bluing of the beam. Price is $30

Instead of posting a new thread right away I thought I would post here in this thread that I have some XML tower modules for KT1 / KT4 / KT5 surefire turbo heads. I wanted to make them available to all of you that have followed my thread through the year. I have them listed under the XML's above along with the drivers. They are only available in T6 flux and 1A tint for now as that is how I have bought the emitter on boards and they are not easily changed. I have been able to keep the beam quite tight like my XPG's have been. I don't know of any towers being made with XML's.

Thanks and have a great holdiay season!!!!

Dave

Hi

I am guessing you mean the T6 3C bin that badtziscool ordered, it should be around 650 lumens + or- a few lumens

Dave,

I have one of your cool white MC-E drop ins from 2009. As far as lumen output, how would the current XM-L T6 1C / 1D compare to the older MC-E?

Hi

I would imagine the MCE was direct drive so it will depend on battery condition, if regulated the MCE will be between 50 and 100 lumens dimmer than the XML. i don't know if it was a M bin or a N bin but probably a M bin and I think I labeled most of those at 550 lumen. The biggest difference is the XML's will have much better throw while still having adequate spill.

Great offers.
Finally thinking of giving the XM-L a try.

a few questions:
* the daylight XM-L, shouldn't that be "3C" instead of "6C" - I am somehow not able to find 6C
* the XP-G mentionned in post #2 - will there be a driver low-med-high (+ memory) available?
* what does
mean here?

Hi Dave,

Is 1.4 amp the highest you have available for XRE R2? It'd be used in a SolarForce L2-series with AW protected 18650 2900mah.

Hi

As listed in first post
Potting option is the filling of electronics cavity with thermal epoxy for heat management and shock protection. Copper tape is included with potting option and any module can be potted. Option is $5

I have changed the 6C to 3C as it was simply a typo when rewriting for section 9

There is memory for the 6 volts only, the no memory pertains to the 9 volt version and I will not be reordering for awhile so not at this time. I have a 1.2 amp version (the other is 1.5 amp) that is 9 volt max which 3 levels that has memory.

Hi

1.4 amps is as high as I like to push a XRE, at 1.4 amps it is 40% higher amperage than the manufacturer suggests. Once you go by 1.4 amps the emitter starts to color shift which usually means trouble is a brewing.

What are the neutral XRE alternatives and can I get an 8 degree optic and a smooth reflector so I can switch back & forth to see which I like better? How much would getting both be? Thanks.

Dave, Hello. I was wondering if there is a big difference or the difference in the T5 5000k tint rated at 600 lumens and the new offering T60 flux bin 3C 5000k daylight white. Thanks. I'm a big NB XML junkie and was thinking if I should get this one.

Hi

I have Q45B for neutrals.

Sorry the way the modules have to be built for the optics holder it is impossible to switch between optics and reflector.

Hi

There is around 40 lumens difference not a whole lot. It puts them on equal par with the coolwhites.
