I'm looking for an Xmas gift for my father-in-law. He likes lights with as tight a hot spot as possible in the 2AA format.

I know the Dereelight Javelin has an excellent reputation as a thrower, especially with an XR-E emitter.

Are there any others I should be considering?

A quark AAx2 non tactical flashlight is what I would get as a gift. Very bright, simplistic, durable, looks like a maglite, has a good hot spot. About 50 bucks.

Id say a 2aa turbo would be a better choice since he likes throwers

I agree. 4Sevens Quark Turbo AAx2 would be a fine suggestion.

BTW -- make sure you include an 8-pack of Energizer Lithium L91 batteries !

i gave my sis in law a Fenix E21, no nonsense semi thrower with a smooth reflector and a head a bit bigger than my Quark AA2 Tac. At a cheap price, not bad as a gift light.

The fenix Tk20 is impressive in many ways. Its extremly solid, and has good throw. There are still some of them left out there.

Eagletac P100A2 for throwy light. The P20A2 MKII with the R5 is a good light that's still throwy but has a wider, more useable spot.
